Tom Taylor - May 8, 2018
Former UFC strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who is now 0-2 against reigning champ Rose Namajunas, will look to get back on track when she battles Tecia Torres at UFC on Fox 30 this July 28. If she wins this fight, she expects to be rewarded with another crack at the title. “I am very happy to fight Tecia,” Jedrzejczyk said of the matchup with Torres on The MMA Hour this week (transcribed by Adam Guillen Jr. for MMAMania). “The good thing is she fought Jessica Andrade in her last fight, she lost that fight. But Jessica Andrade is going to be the challenger for Rose Namajunas. So I am very happy to face Tecia Torres and get the title shot after this fight.”

Joanna Jedrzejczyk says Dana White was "a little bit disgusted" by scoring of Namajunas rematch
Tom Taylor - April 17, 2018
In November of 2017, long-time UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk succumbed to a first-round knockout dealt by unheralded challenger Rose Namajunas, surrendering her title as a result. Earlier this month, in the co-main event of UFC 223, Jedrzejczyk failed to reclaim that title, giving up a close decision to Namajunas in the pair’s anticipated rematch. While the judges awarded the decision to Namajunas in this rematch, however, Jedrzejczyk has repeatedly stated that she feels the fight should have been scored in her favor. Her main argument to this end is that she technically landed more strikes than her foe.

Last weekend, in the co-main event of UFC 223, she failed to reclaim that title from Namajunas in an anticipated rematch, giving up a very close decision loss. Now 0-2 against the champion Namajunas, Jedrzejczyk finds herself in a tough spot in the strawweight division. Luckily for her, a fresh start in the 125-pound flyweight division is just 10 pounds away.

Tom Taylor - April 5, 2018

Apparently, it was all severe enough that she was almost forced off the card. Luckily, Namajunas is reported to have regrouped, and decided to compete as planned on Saturday night. This update comes from Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.

Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that the formerly dominant Jedrzejczyk would receive an immediate rematch, and the chance to reclaim her title. This rematch co-headlines UFC 223 this Saturday night in Brooklyn.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk says life is "better than before" despite losing title
Tom Taylor - March 27, 2018
Back in November, in the first of three title fights on the UFC 217 bill, Joanna Jedrzejczyk lost the UFC strawweight title to Rose Namajunas, succumbing to a first-round knockout. While this emphatic loss marked the end of her longstanding title reign, Jedrzejczyk seems to have taken it in stride. In fact, she says her life is better than it was before she lost the title. “Life has been great, better than before,” Jedrzejczyk told Jim Edwards of MMANytt. “After my last fight my life just got better. I have honest people – I’m surrounded by good and honest people and life is good. I know the value of my life, my family, my friends and the real people around me unlike before.”
Joanna Jedrzejczyk Very Confident Heading Into UFC 223, "I'm the owner of this belt"
Drake Riggs - March 26, 2018
A fight result doesn’t get quite as shocking as the first of three title changes from November 4th, 2017. UFC 217 marked a historic and incredible night for the UFC and one of those reasons was due to how the then title challenger, Rose Namajunas was able to cut through reigning champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk with her striking. No one had ever had as much success against Joanna in such a short amount of time let alone defeat her. Rose was able to score a big early knockdown before finally capping the night off with a big left hook that forced echoing, ‘Thug Rose!’ chants out of the light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier on commentary.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk Correcting Mistakes in Prep for Rose Namajunas Rematch at UFC 223
Justin Golightly - March 13, 2018
The combat sports universe moves at the speed of light, but even with the infinite treadmill of social media and face-punch dates being booked, it’s hard to forget Rose Namajunas dethroning UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217. The unexpected result was juxtaposed by the former champ’s signature pre-fight scare tactics. …But they didn’t work. Now Jedrzejczyk seeks to take back what’s hers and is righting wrongs along the way. “That night I was not one hundred percent competitor for [Rose Namajunas]. […] I am sure that there will be no negligence before the return from Namajunas. After what happened in November, my eyes and ears are open even wider. I am even more demanding not only to myself, but also to my colleagues, to people, who are creating my team. And at the same time I trust them very much. My ties with coaches Katel Kubis and Mike Brown, ties with sparring partners, as well as with the owner of ATT, have tightened considerably.”

Justin Gaethje Predicts Rose Namajunas Takes Out Joanna Jedrzejczyk Again Regardless of Weight Cut
Justin Golightly - February 13, 2018
In a couple of months, Rose Namajunas will march into the Octagon again to see if she can beat former UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk back-to-back at UFC 223. Teammate and friend Justin Gaethje thinks it’s as good as wrapped up already. Citing difficulties with her weight cut, Jedrzejczyk says things will be different this time in the rematch. Gaethje thinks that the way Namajunas won, didn’t have anything to do with the weight cut, which shouldn’t be an excuse anyway. “I think [Joanna Jedrzejczyk]’s weak-minded for [talking about her drastic weight cut complications], even if it is true. It’s her own business. And no matter what, it could be true to the core and you could have proof, who’s going to [care]? Like, I’m not going to support you. Okay, whose fault was it? At the end of the day, whose fault was it? It was your fault. Do you have a scale at your house? Then you get to step on the scale every single morning, just like every single one of us do. We worry about our weight the whole camp, and I’ve never had a nutritionist help me in my entire life. […] I made weight in college eating McDonald’s every day. It’s willpower. You either f-cking do it or you don’t do it.”
Rose Namajunas Says She'll Choke Out Joanna Jedrzejczyk in Their UFC 223 Rematch
Justin Golightly - February 9, 2018
With a slew of wild superfights down the pipeline for 2018, the fights at UFC 223 are still so crazy that they shine through the chaos. Not only is Khabib Nurmagomedov fighting Tony Ferguson in the main event, the co-main will be Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s highly anticipated rematch with Rose Namajunas. The stoic Thug Rose boxed up the dominant champion and shocked the world at UFC 217, now they run it back. This time, Namajunas thinks she’ll get the submission and cement herself as the best strawweight on the planet beating Jedrzejczyk back-to-back like Max Holloway did to Jose Aldo. “It’s probably the most exciting fight that everybody can look forward to. I think that’s a big part of [Joanna Jedrzejczyk getting the immediate rematch], but also I don’t see anybody else that can really challenge at this point. You’ve got Jessica Andrade and Tecia [Torres] will probably be the only other one, maybe Claudia Gadelha but I thought she was injured. Joanna’s beaten all those girls, other than Tecia obviously, but she’s way far ahead of those other girls. […] I had a perfect gampelan for everything that [Jedrzejczyk] was doing. I knew exactly where she was going to be, where she was, I’ve been studying her for many years and knew exactly what she was going to do before she did it.”
