Geoff Neal says he "almost died," Neil Magny now rumored to fight Robbie Lawler

Adam Martin - August 9, 2020

UFC welterweight Geoff Neal announced he is out of his fight against Neil Magny after he says he “almost died” and Robbie Lawler is rumored as the replacement. Neal was set to make his first appearance in 2020 after sitting on the bench for the first half of the year. He is the No. 11 ranked welterweight in the UFC and is coming off of five straight wins in the Octagon, so a win over No. 14 Magny would have been huge for him in his quest for the title. The two were set to square off later this month on August 29 in Las Vegas, but not anymore as the Neal vs. Magny fight will not happen anytime soon.

The August 29 card is rumored to take place at the UFC Apex in Vegas and is set to feature a main event between top-five featherweights Zabit Magomedsharipov and Yair Rodriguez.

Brendan Schaub on Geoff Neal working at Texas Steakhouse: 'It's such a bad look for the UFC'

Fernando Quiles Jr. - July 8, 2020

Brendan Schaub has weighed in on UFC welterweight Geoff Neal having to return to his job at Texas Steakhouse. Back in Dec. 2019, Neal turned in a statement-making win over Mike Perry. Neal dusted “Platinum” in the opening round, which is a feat not often accomplished against someone as tough as Perry. While many expected the UFC to attach the rocket to Neal and have him take off, that hasn’t been the case.

Geoff Neal calls for a fight with welterweight contender Michael Chiesa

Harry Kettle - February 24, 2020

UFC welterweight star Geoff Neal has called out Michael Chiesa for a potential welterweight showdown with both men riding win streaks in the division. While the debate regarding the best division in the UFC tends to be won by lightweight, it certainly seems as if the 170-pounders are starting to creep their way into the conversation. From the title contenders to the rest of the top15 and beyond, welterweight seems to be as legitimate as they come.

Geoff Neal says Usman-Covington was 'entertaining' but technique wasn't good

Cole Shelton - January 6, 2020

Geoff Neal was surprised how the UFC 245 main event between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington played out. It was a battle between two high-level wrestlers, yet there was not one takedown attempt. Instead, they decided to stand and trade until Usman dropped Covington twice in the fifth and earned a TKO win to retain his belt.

Mike Perry takes a shot at Geoff Neal using '8 Mile' reference

Harry Kettle - October 31, 2019

UFC welterweight contender Mike Perry has always had a way with words, and he’s continuing that trend ahead of his UFC 245 showdown with Geoff Neal. Perry (13-5) is coming off the back of a split decision loss to Vicente Luque at UFC Uruguay back in August. During the course of that fight “Platinum” sustained one of the worst broken noses in the history of the UFC, leading many to believe that he would be out of action for quite some time.

In the end, that is exactly what happened as Covington dominated Lawler for the entire fight as he threw over 500 strikes and attempted almost 20 takedowns. Following the fight, here is what we think should be next for the two of them.
