Nate Diaz thinks it’s best for every fighter to not make any hard claims of who will win the mega-million dollar money boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Having fought the Irish MMA superstar twice and having one win and one loss on record with “The Notorious,” Diaz knows he is a game opponent. Although Mayweather’s team has hinted at trying to get Nate to walk out with Floyd for the fight on Saturday night, Nate’s roots are in mixed martial arts. However, in speaking on the “Against All Odds with Cousin Sal” podcast, Diaz says he isn’t picking any sides, but there is one player involved that he is not happy with.

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor‘s upcoming boxing showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is quite unprecedented. That said, it can be compared to a few other fights in the long and violent history of unarmed combat. One fight it is often compared to is Muhammed Ali’s 1976 battle with pro wrestler Antonio Inoki. Another it is compared to is boxer James Toney’s lone and disastrous mixed martial arts bout, which saw him abruptly tapped out by Randy Couture. In the opinion of UFC President Dana White, it’s also somewhat similar to former UFC light heavyweight champ Chuck Liddell’s sojourn into the PRIDE FC ring – unfamiliar territory for a fighter who’d cut his teeth in the cage.

If you heard that Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor were fighting for the WBC “Money Belt” a month ago, you probably would have thought it was a joke. However, on Tuesday during the last press conference held for the mega-million dollar boxing match, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman showcased the diamond and jewel encrusted belt to be given to the winner on Saturday night. “The perfect title for this is a ‘money belt,’” Sulaiman told MMA Fighting. “We’re just proud to have a little bit of history for this event.”

Pretty much everyone has an opinion on this Saturday’s blockbuster boxing match between the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. and UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor – that includes actor Sylvester Stallone, who is the man behind the iconic boxing film series Rocky. Stallone has given his take on this fight several times in the past. During a mid-August chat with TMZ, the actor called McGregor the “real-life Rocky,” and explained that he’s “always got the underdog.”

Of course, we get treated to a tale from his past that relates to the situation. “Conor’s gonna knock him out within four rounds. That’s what I’m gonna say. I’m gonna stick with it. I want my corner with with Conor. And I know skills-wise [Mayweather is better], I know all that. Trust me, I’ve been fighting for a long time. You can call me an idiot, whatever they want. I’m just talking about all the mental aspects and everything there is. And if me committing to Conor is gonna give him a little bit of extra power mentally, so be it. It’s going to be hard for Conor McGregor to top his next fight, which will see him step into the boxing ring to battle Floyd Mayweather this Saturday. That said, the Irish MMA star is already looking to the future, where he’s certain other big opportunities await. “I’ve got another game that I must occupy also,” McGregor told the media on Wednesday of his fighting future. “The options are there. Multiple belts, multiple organizations, multiple styles… We’ll see what happens.”

One of the reasons that no one ever thought Conor McGregor would actually fight Floyd Maweather, is because of the gaping chasm of skill level between the two. Mayweather has been nearly untouchable for his entire boxing career. in 49 fights, the best boxers around weren’t able to put him away, so how could McGregor? For his entire career, people have said that same thing for McGregor. Long-time striking coach Owen Roddy shrugs it off and says things would be different if you could see him in the gym. “People were on the fence about this, even in the MMA community, but when you see what he’s doing, the work rate and the effort that he puts in – it’s hard not to believe that he can do this. Even just speaking to him you can tell that this isn’t a payday. This about proving people wrong and proving that he can do what many people feel is impossible. The thing is, with Conor, he proves people wrong all the time. He always sets himself these targets of doing the impossible. Nobody gives him a chance and then they hear him speak and they see what he’s doing, then they become believers. It happens every camp.”

Just when you thought there could not be a bigger story in combat sports during the fight week of Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor, Jon Jones was flagged by USADA. The news broke on Tuesday as Jones was flagged for a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation after beating Daniel Cormier to win the UFC light heavyweight championship title at UFC 214. Jones’ potential violation is stemmed from an in-competition sample collected following his weigh-in on July 28. USADA has also been testing Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor for their multi-million dollar boxing match and have been testing them both extensively to try and catch any fighter trying to take an illegal advantage.

The biggest fight of entire existence needs a belt equal in mangnitde. Any other green-strapped belt won’t do, not even a big, gold UFC belt (or two) simply doesn’t do it justice. The lights, the money, the celebrities, the fame, cars, and all the clothes. Conor McGregor is scooting around Vegas in a fire-spitting Lambo and a fleet of Rolls-Royces. He’s going to box the undisputed best boxer of our generation in just a couple of days. It’s hard to believe that his first UFC fight was only 4 years ago. Two titles in different weight classes and a fight with “Money” Mayweather later, and it’s even harder to imagine him coming from a modest life working as a plumber. Shortly after his UFC 205, lightweight-title-winning knockout of Eddie Alvarez, which sent his stock rocketing to new heights, UFC superstar Conor McGregor made an unprecedented demand: he, a fighter, wanted a piece of the UFC. “Where’s my share? Where’s my equity?” McGregor queried at the UFC 205 post-fight presser. “If I’m the one that’s bringing this, they’ve got to come talk to me now,” McGregor said. “I’ve got both belts, family on the way. If you’ve had your finger on the pulse of the fight game over the last few days, you’ve heard that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is worried that his Saturday night opponent, Conor McGregor, is going to miss the 154-pound limit for their bout. “Conor McGregor is extremely heavy right now,” Mayweather recently told FightHype. “I think he is 164, so he still has 10 pounds to go. Y’all get that extra money if he can’t make the weight, get those extra millions ready, Dana. Or the UFC, get them extra millions ready. Somebody gotta’ pay a fine, but he gotta’ get that weight down. A true champion is, like I said before, I true champion is disciplined and very responsible, but you know, we’ll see. I don’t think he’s gonna’ make the weight. Even if he do make the weight, that’s even better, but if he don’t make the weight, we still gonna fight. But it’s gonna’ be a be a heavy fine. The chaos that just broke out at Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather’s media day hasn’t settled down too much. Paul Malignaggi and McGregor just an an epic confrontation outside in the parking lot which almost came to blows. All the videos were loud, you could barely make out what anyone was saying, and it all came and went incredibly fast. Almost as fast as Malignaggi talks. After the situation dissolved, Ariel Helwani followed Paul Malignaggi and asked him to explain his side of the altercation. “I was trying to Audie’s [Attar, McGregor’s manager] attention ’cause I was trying to talk to Audie. Audie was saying I talked out of my contract, no I didn’t talk out of my contract. You guys posted up pictures, you force me to defend myself. I didn’t talk anything until you guys posted pictures. The pictures is what started talking. So, nobody talked out of the contract. You guys posted pictures first. If there were no pictures ever posted, I wouldn’t of needed to talk.”

It’s media day for Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather but he focus is going to be completely on that other boxer that got mixed up in this. After all the controversy leading up to the event, Paul Malignaggi ran into McGregor out at the event today and things got serious real quick. If they weren’t already planning and moving ahead with that boxing match after McGregor boxes Mayweather, they definitely are now. It’s hard to make out what is said, but it looks like McGregor told him that they could fight anytime and Paul Malignaggi yells at him to not forget his, ahem, courage. Conor McGregor: “You bet your ass we will, you bet your ass we f-ckin’ will.” Paul Malignaggi: “Remember what I said when you quit like a b-tch, Saturday. Bring your balls, p-ssy.”

Take it as you may, but whether you like it or not, this isn’t the first time Conor McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh has mentioned something about a “push” on social media. On Monday, Kavanagh posted a photo of himself with his back on the canvas wearing boxing gloves as “The Notorious” stood above looking down on the pioneer that helped put Irish MMA on the map.

There has been a ton of trash talk between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. It’s what got the fight to become to a reality with Floyd Mayweather coming out of retirement for one more fight that will bank both he and McGregor millions of dollars. The trash talk hit another level when the two faced off for the first time and jetted around the globe for the four-day, four-city press conference.
