Pros react to Mirko Cro Cop vs. Roy Nelson 2 at Bellator 216

A heavyweight rematch between Mirko Cro Cop and Roy Nelson co-headlined tonight’s Bellator 216 event in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Cro Cop and Nelson had first met at UFC 137 in October of 2011, with “Big Country” emerging victorious by way of third-round TKO.

Mirko Cro Cop (37-11-2 MMA) was most recenlty seen in action at RIZIN 13, where he scored a first-round TKO victory Roque Martinez.

The victory marked Cro Cop’s ninth in a row.

As for Roy Nelson, “Big Country” will enter tonight’s rematch with Cro Cop looking to rebound, this after losing his past two fights.

In his most recent effort at Bellator 207, “Big Country” suffered a first-round knockout loss to Sergei Kharitonov.

Roy Nelson (23-16 MMA) entered tonight’s contest having lost seven of his past ten fights overall.

Tonight’s rematch was a back and forth affair. Cro Cop was able to chip away at Nelson with some big low kicks, while “Big Country” fired back with some timely punches, namely uppercuts.

After fifteen minutes of action, the judges in attendance awarded Mirko Cro Cop with the unanimous decision victory.
