It happens every fight. We all have done it. He’s too fast, we say. The ground game will be his downfall. This guy will finally be the guy who beats Conor McGregor, the media writes. It’s happened through Dustin Poirier, Chad Mendes, Jose Aldo, Eddie Alvarez, and now Floyd Mayweather. This is different though, this isn’t MMA. It’s a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. While McGregor has enjoyed being a giant fish in a very small pond, he’s been released into the Atlantic Ocean now. It’s very hard to see how McGregor can pull this one off, but nothing has dented his confidence. Nate Diaz thinks it’s best for every fighter to not make any hard claims of who will win the mega-million dollar money boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Having fought the Irish MMA superstar twice and having one win and one loss on record with “The Notorious,” Diaz knows he is a game opponent. Although Mayweather’s team has hinted at trying to get Nate to walk out with Floyd for the fight on Saturday night, Nate’s roots are in mixed martial arts. However, in speaking on the “Against All Odds with Cousin Sal” podcast, Diaz says he isn’t picking any sides, but there is one player involved that he is not happy with.

If you heard that Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor were fighting for the WBC “Money Belt” a month ago, you probably would have thought it was a joke. However, on Tuesday during the last press conference held for the mega-million dollar boxing match, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman showcased the diamond and jewel encrusted belt to be given to the winner on Saturday night. “The perfect title for this is a ‘money belt,’” Sulaiman told MMA Fighting. “We’re just proud to have a little bit of history for this event.”

Not long ago, Floyd Mayweather suggested that he was worried that Conor McGregor might miss weight for their Saturday-night showdown. “Conor McGregor is extremely heavy right now, I think he is 164, so he still has 10 pounds to go,” Mayweather told Fight Hype. “Y’all get that extra money if he can’t make the weight, get those extra millions ready, Dana. Or the UFC, get them extra millions ready. Somebody gotta’ pay a fine, but he gotta’ get that weight down. A true champion is, like I said before, I true champion is disciplined and very responsible, but you know, we’ll see. I don’t think he’s gonna’ make the weight. Even if he do make the weight, that’s even better, but if he don’t make the weight, we still gonna fight. But it’s gonna’ be a be a heavy fine. Give me that money.”

Just when you thought there could not be a bigger story in combat sports during the fight week of Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor, Jon Jones was flagged by USADA. The news broke on Tuesday as Jones was flagged for a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation after beating Daniel Cormier to win the UFC light heavyweight championship title at UFC 214. Jones’ potential violation is stemmed from an in-competition sample collected following his weigh-in on July 28. USADA has also been testing Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor for their multi-million dollar boxing match and have been testing them both extensively to try and catch any fighter trying to take an illegal advantage.

Conor McGregor has strutted his way into the fight of the century with Floyd Mayweather. It has grown bigger and bigger until reaching a fever pitch this week. The Killers shot a music video, Demi Lovato will sing the National Anthem, and tons of celebrities will be in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday. The fight is so big, fans can’t help but feel left out. With a steep $100 price tag on the pay-per-view, it’s just too rich for some people’s blood. Floyd Mayweather is worried. Not about Conor McGregor’s mid-combat trash talk, now about his sniper left hand, not about the possibility of McGregor cheating, he’s worried about his weight. Sitting outside of his gym talking to Fight Hype after drinking a ‘light shake’, he expressed his concern that his opponent is an ‘extremely heavy’ 164lbs right now. He’s not too worry about it though, as long as he gets a percentage of McGregor’s purse if he does in fact not make the 154lb limit. How do you look this good at 40? Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will be stepping into the boxing ring on Saturday, August 26, to fight under the Queensberry rules in what is expected to break the record as the richest fight in combat sports. Back in 2015, Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao set the bar high with over 4 million pay-per-view buys in a fight that many fans were left unimpressed by the action in the ring from the two boxing superstars. Both Mayweather and McGregor have said leading up to their mega-million dollar boxing match that they are going to bring the fight come August 26. Interestingly, Mayweather’s challenge to bend the standard rules and change the glove size from 10-oz gloves to 8-oz gloves are giving some fans more hope in the fight not ending with a judge’s decision.

Floyd Mayweather is less than one week out from returning to the boxing ring after coming out of retirement to fight current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in the boxing ring. Mayweather, now 40-years-old, has stated numerous times in the buildup to this fight that he certainly isn’t the same boxer he was 10 years ago and admitted he isn’t even the same boxer from just two years ago. However, Mayweather has stated that although not the same man he once was, he still has was it takes to beat Conor McGregor in the boxing ring.

This Saturday, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will step into the boxing ring to battle undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. The fight is tracking to be one of the biggest in combat sports history, and one that could smash all previous pay-per-view records. Former Strikeforce champ and current Bellator star Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal, however, will not be buying. The light heavyweight and occasional heavyweight explained why on a recent episode of MMAJunkie Radio. In his opinion, it’s too much of a mismatch in Mayweather’s favor to even warrant consideration. He’ll simply watch the highlights later.

It’s for this reason that pop superstar Justin Bieber has reportedly dialled back his friendship with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. According to a report from TMZ, Bieber and his team, under the influence of a pastor at this church, were a little put off by Mayweather’s interest in strip clubs (the boxer owns a venue in Las Vegas called “Girl Collection”). They have decided to loosen ties with him as a result, just days ahead of his massive, boxing showdown with UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor.
