The fight between Alvarez and Smith was officially announced this week, and it will take place on December 19 at an undisclosed location and aired live on DAZN. Alvarez and Smith will be competing for the WBA and Ring Super-Middleweight Championship in what should be an incredible boxing match to cap off 2020.

With Alvarez vs. Smith now official, the oddsmakers were quick to release the betting odds for this lucrative boxing match. According to ProBoxingOdds.com, the odds for Alvarez vs. Smith came out earlier this week, with Alvarez not surprisingly opening as a -500 betting favorite and Smith opening as a +395 betting underdog.

Boxing Odds

Canelo Alvarez -500
Callum Smith +395

Alvarez opened as a -500 betting favorite, meaning a $500 bet would win you $100 if the favorite wins. Smith, meanwhile, opened as a +395 betting underdog. That means a $100 bet would win you $395 should he prevail in what would be an upset.

Alvarez (53-1-2) is a 30-year-old Mexico native who is one of the biggest superstars in boxing today. Aside from a majority decision loss to all-time great Floyd Mayweather in 2013, Alvarez has never lost a fight before, with his only other blemish being a pair of draws. Alvarez is currently riding a four-fight win streak that includes notable wins over Sergey Kovalev and Gennady Golovkin.

Smith (27-0) is a 30-year-old England native who has won all 27 of his pro boxing bouts so far, including 19 wins by way of knockout. He will come into this fight off of a layoff, having not fought since a unanimous decision win over John Ryder in November 2019. Smith also holds notable wins over the likes of Nieky Holzken and George Groves, who he knocked out in devastating fashion in September 2018.
