The highly anticipated UFC 279 press conference featuring Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz was canceled at the last second after a backstage brawl involving Chimaev, Diaz, and Kevin Holland got so heated Dana White was forced to pull the plug. No footage from the incident has surfaced online yet, but Chimaev’s coach Andreas Michael shared his view on how things went down. “What happened was, Khamzat went inside and was by himself, then it started with Kevin Holland,” Michael said in an Instagram video. “He gave him like a boot in the chest then they started whatever they’re doing. And then the Diaz crew came in, and they started doing what they’re doing, but nobody got injured. Thank God!”

Khamzat Chimaev and Kevin Holland and their teams continued to bicker at one another following the press conference being canceled. Before the press conference was set to begin, Dana White said “all hell broke loose” and there was a scuffle. The UFC boss was then forced to cancel the event, and he gave more details about it as he said Chimaev and Holland went at it followed by Diaz’s team being part of it.

Several pro fighters have reacted after altercations involving Khamzat Chimaev, Nate Diaz and Kevin Holland resulted in the cancellation of the UFC 279 press conference. Today’s presser was cancelled prematurely after “all hell broke loose” backstage, this according to UFC President Dana White.

Kevin Holland has issued a statement after his backstage scuffle with Khamzat Chimaev forced Dana White to cancel today’s UFC 279 press conference. Holland participated in the event opposite his upcoming opponent Daniel Rodriguez. Once finished fielding questions from the media, ‘Trailblazer’ and ‘D-Rod’ made their way backstage so the next set of fighters could come on.

Dana White was forced to cancel the UFC 279 press conference on Thursday. The event was scheduled to take place at 4 p.m. local time but was running nearly 30 minutes late with no fighters in sight. White then took the podium and announced it was a ‘shit show’ backstage and instead of doing the press conference at once, the fighters would be brought out in pairs.

Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t think Leon Edwards wants to ever fight him. Edwards became the new welterweight champion at UFC 278 as he scored a fifth-round head kick KO over Kamaru Usman in a massive comeback win. Although it appears Edwards and Usman will have their trilogy match sometime next year, if Chimaev defeats Nate Diaz at UFC 279, he appears to be next in line but he doesn’t expect Edwards to want the fight.

In that outing, Paul was first expected to face Tommy Fury, but ‘TNT’ pulled out. As a result, ‘The Chosen One’ stepped in on short notice for the headliner.

UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards has questioned Kamaru Usman‘s recent comments. ‘Rocky’ faced ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ in the main event of UFC 278 last month. The bout was a rematch of their previous encounter at UFC on Fox 17 in December 2015. In that first meeting, Usman scored a unanimous decision victory.

Nate Diaz believes there is a lot of pressure on Khamzat Chimaev to not only beat him but finish him the way the odds are. Diaz is currently a +750 underdog with Chimaev being a -1150 favorite as many are expecting the Swede to ragdoll the Stockton native. However, if Chimaev doesn’t finish Diaz early or beat him, people may not think highly of him which is why the ‘Stockton Slugger’ believes there is a ton of pressure on Chimaev.
