Earlier this month, we got a sneak peak behind the scenes of the new EA Sports UFC 3 video game thanks to Angela Hill in a motion capture suit. Other than that, we haven’t gotten much news about the third installment in the EA UFC franchise. For those who wanted more, a new teaser dropped today letting us know that we have a full trailer to look forward to this Friday. We get flashes of Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Demetrious Johnson, Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva and Conor McGregor. While we’ve been waiting along with Khabib Nurmagomedov on the sidelines for an announcement, we got our wish yesterday. A fight with Edson Barboza was made official to fight at UFC 219. This is a time for celebration, but fans and media can’t help but have painful flashbacks to the fights Nurmagomedov has had to pull out of. For most of 2016, we were hyped Tony Ferguson would fight Khabib, but it never materialized. Barboza isn’t worried about all that though, he’s just happy to finally fight one of the best in the world. “Khabib [Nurmagomedov] is a great fighter. He’s a true fighter. I knew if this contract comes on his head, he’s signing. This is an opportunity to have the two best lightweights in the world fighting. He definitely want the best and is one of the best and it makes me very excited for this fight. Definitely not [worried about Nurmagomedov not showing up]. I know Injuries happen all the time. I never fight 100% in my body in my life. Always every fighter have some injuries. Maybe I can get hurt in my camp. This happens to everybody and I’m not scared about this. […] He train so hard. I think for sure he train very hard. Sometimes it happens. I can’t do nothing. If you don’t train, you not get hurt. But me I train hard all the time, he trains hard all the time. I hope it doesn’t happen with me and him.”

Just yesterday, there was a report of Georges St-Pierre saying that the UFC’s new early weigh-in policy is having the opposite affect of its original intentions. He even went on to say that it was the ‘worst thing they could do.’ Well, you know what they say, speak of the devil and he shall appear. Just this morning, Deiveson Figueiredo seemed to be going through an absolutely brutal cut. This was evident as he started weeping throughout the entire procedure.  How difficult is the fight before the fight? Deiveson Figueiredo made it painfully evident.

Next weekend, UFC 217 will finally be upon us, lighting up the night with three huge title fights that will have us screaming and jumping out of our seats. One of the many awesome fights we are blessed with by the MMA gods will be Joanna Jedrzejczyk throwing down with “Thug” Rose Namajunas. Leading up to her title defense against Namajunas that could potentially tie Ronda Rousey’s record, Jedrzejczyk is giving us an unprecedented look into the lead-up with her “Champ Camp’ video blogs. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida is set to return to competition after over two years since last fighting in the Octagon. Machida is coming off an 18-month suspension after admitting the use of the banned substance 7-Keto-DHEA. Machida claimed that he did not know that the pills he bought over the counter contained anything on the banned substance list. With a return to the Octagon set for UFC Fight Night 119 on October 28 in Sao Paulo, Brazil against Derek Brunson, Machida was pumped up during their staredown on Thursday. After the two faced each other in front of the media, Machida and Brunson turned to the audience and Machida let out a big yell that shocked some in attendance.

If there was any truth to Floyd Mayweather saying that his fight with Conor McGregor would be his last, International Boxing Hall of Fame anchor Jim Lampley isn’t believing it for a second. We recently saw Mayweather post a couple of training videos to social media and the speculation has been going around on if there was any meaning behind them.

Rising star Darren Till rose to the occasion in the main event of UFC Fight Night 118 over the weekend. Till had the biggest fight of his life for his first UFC main event against fan favorite Donald Cerrone and made a statement by stopping “Cowboy” in the first round by TKO. UFC commentator Joe Rogan, former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub, and Eddie Bravo got together to watch the UFC Fight Night 118 event and streamed it for the Joe Rogan Experience – Fight Companion episode. You can watch the crew’s live reactions to watching the fight between Cerrone and Till unfold and the guys give some interesting insight on the matchup.

Donald Cerrone returns to the Octagon for his third fight this year as he is set to take on rising star Darren Till in the main event of UFC Fight Night 118 in Gdansk, Poland. “Cowboy” is riding the first two-fight winning streak of his professional MMA career after fighting two world-class opponents. In January, Cerrone lost for the first time since moving up to the welterweight division to current number 4 ranked UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal. Cerrone’s next matchup in July would not get any easier with falling short in a unanimous decision loss to former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, who is currently the number 1 ranked 170-pound contender.

Fighters took to the scales in Gdansk, Poland early on Friday to weigh in for their UFC Fight Night 118 competitions. All fighters came in under the allowed limit of their contracted weight with the exception of one fighter. Veteran Sam Alvey stepped on the scales with an official weight of 189, which was three pounds over for his non-title middleweight bout. Alvey stepped in as a late replacement to fight Ramazan Emeev on 10 days notice repacing Emeev’s originally scheduled opponent, Trevor Smith.

Heather Hardy is an MMA promoters dream. She’s an undefeated champion boxer who wanted to jump ship and she’s down to scrap with anybody. Not only can she talk trash, but she also gives an insightful interview and has an incredible backstory. She won her Bellator debut and will look to continue her successful MMA journey tomorrow night at Bellator 185 against Kristina Williams, but she never expected to be outnumbered at the weigh-ins. Disagree or not, it’s definitely become at least intertwined in what we’ve expected in a post-Aldo knockout world. Just a couple of days after his UFC release, flyweight Ian McCall signed on with Japanese fighting organization RIZIN. He recently spoke in-depth to us about him jumping ship to the promotion, which is enjoying a meteoric rise from the ashes of Pride. He’ll be competing in the electric bantamweight grand prix and has his eyes on former UFC fighter Kyoji Horiguchi. Before McCall can get to him though, he’ll have to get through Manel Kape though. His potential remains somewhat of a mystery besides his first round finish of Erson Yamamoto last weekend, but right now it’s his mouth that’s running amok. “Well, I was finally healthy and I just felt like leaving the UFC and where else would I go besides here? There’s no where else I’d rather be. That’s why I’m here. I’m excited to hear about this grand prix and excited to fight these sort of fighters. It’s a good, talented group of people so I’m excited to be here. But specifically you [Kyoji Horiguchi]. I’m coming for you. Everybody else wants you, I want you too. We should have fought in the UFC and he’s very accomplished. Early in the afternoon on Saturday, there is going to be a wild fight going down in Poland and the only place you can watch it is on UFC Fight Pass. Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone will throw down with up-and-comer Darren Till in the main event. You’d think a name like Cerrone would want to be on pay-per-view somewhere, or the curtain-jerker on a big UFC on FOX card, but he couldn’t care less. He wants anyone who doesn’t have Fight Pass to shell out the nine bucks because the Cowboy is fighting and that’s just must-see TV. “I want the UFC to post, ‘Cowboy in Poland [on] Fight Pass’ and people say, ‘What the f-ck is Fight Pass? I gotta’ figure out what Fight Pass is. How do we watch this fight?’ That’s what I want. I want you guys to come on and have the biggest draw in the Fight Pass history. Right? Because people gotta’ figure out how they’re going to watch the Cowboy fight because theyk now the son of a b-tch is going in there, biting down, and giving it all. Win or lose, I just want people to know he fights with everything he’s got.”

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is currently going through the process of his latest potential anti-doping violation. In August, news broke that Jones tested positive for the steroid Turinabol from his UFC 214 weigh-in day sample and has been going through the due process with USADA and the California State Athletic Commission ever since.
