This Sunday night, in the main event of the first-ever UFC card on ESPN, former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will make his long-awaited return to the cage. His welcome committee will be former title challenger Francis Ngannou.

Ahead of this compelling heavyweight showdown, it’s abundantly clear what Cain Velasquez needs to be most wary of: Francis Ngannou hits absurdly hard. Ngannou hits so hard, in fact, that UFC President Dana White once compared the French-Cameroonian’s power to a Ford Escort moving at full speed.

“Francis is a guy that has the world record for the most powerful punch,” White said before Ngannou battled Stipe Miocic for the UFC heavyweight title in January of 2018. “His punch is the equivalent of 96 horsepower, which is equal to getting hit by a Ford Escort as fast as it can (go), and it’s more powerful than a 12-pound sledgehammer being swung from overhead.”

Cain Velasquez has heard this comment from Dana White, but he’s not worried. That’s because, according to him, Ford Escorts suck.

See the former champ’s hilarious response to this comment from Dana White below.

“Ford Escorts suck,” Velasquez told the media convened in Phoenix on Tuesday. “They’re weak. Ford Escort? That’s the best he can come up with? ‘Ford Escort. That’s it. That’ the one.’ What the f**k is that?”

When asked what vehicle he’d compare his own power to, Velasquez wasn’t sure. He merely assured it would be better than a Ford Escort.

”I dunno,” he said (via MMAMania). “It’d be better than that. Anything would be better than that. They don’t even make Ford Escorts any more, do they? It should offend Francis, not me. I wasn’t called a Ford Escort.”

What do you think of this comment from Cain Velasquez? How do you think he’ll contend with the ferocious punching power of Francis Ngannou this Sunday on ESPN? Do Ford Escorts really suck? Make your voice heard in the comments section.
