Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw’s upcoming fight remains a mystery as conflicting details continue to emerge, with no resolution on the conflict between The UFC and Demetrious Johnson to aid fight fans in making sense of the confusion. Dillashaw was initially slated to fight bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt in a highly anticipated bantamweight title fight this summer, however a back injury forced Garbrandt out of the fight. UFC President Dana White then revealed that the plan was to have Dillashaw drop down to flyweight and challenge flyweight kingpin Demetrious Johnson for the flyweight title in a fight that could have potentially seen Johnson set the UFC record for most successful title defenses.

Daniel Cormier: UFC should pay Demetrious Johnson a million dollars to fight Dillashaw
Tom Taylor - June 8, 2017
Over the last few weeks, UFC President Dana White has been pushing UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson to accept a fight with a slimmed down former bantamweight champion in TJ Dillashaw. Johnson, however, has some real reservations. He believes the next flyweight title shot should go to the established Ray Borg, and is reluctant to take any huge risks for the UFC President, who he recently divulged hasn’t treated him especially well. During a Wednesday night appearance on UFC Tonight, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier weighed in on this complicated UFC-Johnson-Dillashaw debacle. In his opinion, if the UFC wants to make this Johnson-Dillashaw happen they need to make it worth the flyweight champ’s while. Cormier believes a one million dollar payday should be enough in that regard.
TJ Dillashaw on Demetrious Johnson outcry: it all comes down to him being scared of me beating him
Tom Taylor - June 6, 2017
Yesterday morning, dominant UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson made waves by releasing a lengthy, anti-UFC statement, blasting the organization and its head-honcho Dana White for bullying him, and for trying to force him into a fight with former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw (read that statement here). Now a day removed from Johnson’s passionate address, Dillashaw has issued a response. As a member of the Mixed Martial Arts Athletes Association, which strives to improve treatment of fighters, one might expect Dillashaw to sympathize with Johnson. Apparently, however, the former bantamweight champion doesn’t have much sympathy to give.
Cody Garbrandt issues warning to TJ Dillashaw regarding Demetrious Johnson fight
bjpenndotcom - June 1, 2017
Several months ago, it was announced that UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt would be making his first bantamweight title defense against TJ Dillashaw following a season of coaching on The Ultimate Fighter. Unfortunately, a back injury delayed the potential fight when Cody Garbrandt was flown to Germany by UFC President Dana White for a procedure on his back that would hopefully speed up his recovery. While the champ is currently back in the united States and recovering, he will be unable to fight TJ Dillashaw in July as initially planned.
TJ Dillashaw relocates to a new gym for training camp
Tom Taylor - June 1, 2017
TJ Dillashaw began his fighting career at Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, California. Eventually, however, he left this camp, following coach Duane Ludwig to Colorado, where he set up camp at Elevation MMA. This move caused a massive rift between himself and his former Team Alpha Male stablemates, and resulted in his headline-dominating beef with reigning bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt. It appears, however, that Garbrandt has returned to California. According to an Instagram post from Rafael Cordeiro, Dillashaw has settled at Kings MMA, where he will be doing his training camp for his next fight.

Russell Ess - May 26, 2017
We could be seeing UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt fight sooner than we thought. Earlier this week, Garbrandt got into a heated Twitter exchange with a bodybuilder named Matthew Kline Kader. Duane Ludwig discusses TJ Dillashaw's plans to become a two-division champ
Tom Taylor - May 25, 2017
Until recently, former UFC bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw was expected to challenge reigning champ and former teammate Cody Garbrandt for gold at UFC 213 this July 8. Regrettably, Garbrandt has been forced out of this planned title fight with back trouble, which has left Dillashaw without a chance to fight for gold. While the simplest option for Dillashaw would seem to be to wait for Garbrandt to recover, he’s got another plan. The talented bantamweight has recently been campaigning for a shot at Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, who rules the flyweight division 10 pounds south of bantamweight.
Demetrious Johnson, TJ Dillashaw and Ray Borg weigh in on complicated situation at flyweight
Tom Taylor - May 24, 2017
Yesterday, we learned that UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt was indeed out of UFC 213, which left his planned opponent TJ Dillashaw without an opponent. With this unfortunate news, an opportunistic Dillashaw re-upped on his previous claims, suggesting that he is keen to drop to flyweight to challenge dominant champ Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson for his belt. Apparently, the UFC is into this idea, and the fight is being seriously considered as the main event of UFC 215 this August in Seattle (in Johnson’s native Washington). While the world seems to be drooling over the possibility of a Dillashaw vs. Johnson flyweight title fight, however, Johnson himself is not so keen on the fight, as he feels Dillashaw would be skipping the line at flyweight. In his opinion, the streaking Ray Borg might be a more fitting opponent for his next defense.

The two are slated to fight for Garbrandt’s title at UFC 213 on Saturday, July 8, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Garbrandt recently stated that he was going to Germany to have a procedure done on his injured back and the UFC and Dillashaw are awaiting to hear if the procedure has helped. Dillashaw however, is already eyeing another title fight if Garbrandt can’t compete and called out UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, which UFC President Dana White is already liking.

bjpenndotcom - May 19, 2017
Earlier this year, former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw learned that he would be stepping into the Octagon to fight his former teammate Cody Garbrandt for the UFC bantamweight title. While the pair coached opposite one another on The Ultimate Fighter, it was revealed recently that Garbrandt would be heading to Germany to undergo a procedure on his back. While UFC President Dana White was confident Garbrandt would be healed due to the fact that he sent ‘No Love’ to his doctor in Germany, the UFC President revealed that a backup plan was in the works. Should Garbrandt be unable to fight Dillashaw on July 8th, the UFC will look to book a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and TJ Dillashaw.

Cody Garbrandt - TJ Dillashaw beef reaches new heights as Dillashaw's mother gets involved
Tom Taylor - April 26, 2017
Bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt and former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw used to train together at Team Alpha Male. Now, they don’t. Instead, they seem to share a real, reciprocal disdain for one another – a disdain that will come to a head when they battle for the divisional title at UFC 213 this July. Before they battle for gold at UFC 213, Garbrandt and Dillashaw are serving as rival coaches on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter. This platform, when paired with the power of social media, is giving them ample opportunity to take their beef to new heights.
