Robbie Lawler throws shade at Georges St-Pierre: Fight wouldn’t be smart for him

After Georges St-Pierre defeated Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in 2013, the welterweight kingpin went on an indefinite hiatus from the Octagon. Despite that, rumors of a potential GSP return have continued to surface as time passes.

With just one day to go until Robbie Lawler returns to the Octagon Saturday evening at UFC 201 to fight Tyron Woodley, the welterweight champ was asked about his thoughts on a potential fight with GSP.

MMAJunkie has the quotes:

“I don’t really get too excited (about a St-Pierre bout),” Lawler said. “It’d be nice to beat him and showcase my skills against him, but I don’t think he’s coming back. It wouldn’t be a smart move for him. He’s done a lot for the sport and won a lot of fights. I’m not the guy I think he wants to come back against.”

After UFC 199, St-Pierre reportedly reached out to Michael Bisping’s camp for a middleweight title fight, however Bisping and his camp allegedly turned the fight down.
