We caught up with our former UFC welterweight and lightweight champion BJ Penn as he had a couple days off from training in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the JacksonWink MMA Academy. Penn, who recently announced his decision to come out of retirement to shake up the UFC featherweight division has sought out the help of famed MMA coaches Greg Jackson and Mike Winklejohn and spoke with us at how training is going.

Another UFC veteran has been flagged by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). UFC welterweight Tim Means has been flagged by USADA for a “potential Anti-Doping Policy violation” from an out of competition drug testing. Means was scheduled to welcome former lightweight title contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone to the welterweight division at UFC Fight Night 83 on Feb. 21 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

At the UFC 196 press conference, Conor McGregor wasn’t too pleased with the promotional poster that was used. The poster in question showed McGregor standing behind dos Anjos, and didn’t include McGregor’s featherweight title belt. Of course McGregor’s title belt wasn’t included because his featherweight championship wasn’t on the line in the fight due to the fact that he was moving up in weight to challenge dos Anjos for the lightweight championship.

Looks like Cain Velasquez of AKA is on the road to recovery after a successful surgery for a sciatic nerve. The former champ has a time table of a little over a month before he can get back into to training for his title rematch with Fabricio Werdum. Here’s his released statement via Facebook:

According to her coach Edmond Tarverdyan, she may never watch her own knockout loss. Tarverdyan spoke with ESPN recently on his critics and their gameplan versus pride in their match with Holly Holm at UFC 193 back in November.

This past Saturday UFC on FOX 18 went down from the Prudential Center in Newark New Jersey. The preliminary card was headlined by Tarec Saffiedine vs. Jake Ellenberger which saw Saffiedine return to the win column and pick up a unanimous decision win.

Luke Rockhold is coming off of a TKO win over Chris Weidman back at UFC 194, and while he currently has no opponent for his first title defense, many are expecting the UFC to give Chris Weidman an immediate rematch for the title. On the main card of UFC 194 Yoel Romero also defeated Jacare Souza to become the #1 contender at middleweight. After the fight however it was revealed that Romero failed a drug test. Given the failed drug test the UFC decided to book Jacare vs. Belfort for a #1 contender fight. This has lead many to assume Weidman will get an immediate rematch.
