With Yoel Romero’s failed drug test it became clear that he was no longer the #1 contender at middleweight. The UFC then booked Jacare vs. Belfort, which lead many to believe the #1 contender would be determined in that fight. In addition, the UFC booked Silva vs. Bisping for the end of February, which raised the question of whether or not the winner of that fight could get a title shot.
Earlier today on Fox Sports 1 UFC President Dana White announced that Luke Rockhold vs. Chris Weidman II would go down at UFC 199 in June.
The date for the bout likely won’t sit too well with Rockhold, who stated previously that the one event he wouldn’t want to defend his belt at is UFC 199.
So far no other bouts have been announced for the card.
