Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva suffered his second consecutive knockout loss in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 87 at the hands and elbows of Stefan Struve. The setback served as Silva’s fifth loss in his past seven octagon appearances, with all five of those losses coming by form of TKO/KO.

A key heavyweight scrap between perennial contenders Alistair Overeem (41-14-1 MMA) and Andrei Arlovski (25-12 MMA) headlined today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam. Round one begins and Arlovski presses forward with punches. He lands a good knee to the body of Overeem. Alistair is circling. Arlovski grabs a hold of him and Overeem lands a knee from the clinch. The fighters break and Overeem lands a knee. Arlovski with a right hand that misses. “The Reem” comes forward with punches and lands a knee from the clinch. Big right hand thrown by Arlovski but it misses. Good body kick by Alistair and then a leg kick. Arlovski misses with a right hook. He kicks the thigh of Overeem. Alistair returns fire with the same push kick. The clinch and Overeem lands a knee and then a trip. He jumps in to the guard of Arlovski and begins working some rights to the body and head. Good shot from the bottom by Arlovski. Overeem replies with a thunderous right hand. Good upkick from Andrei pushes Overeem back to his feet to end round one.

A heavyweight tilt between former title challenger Antonio Silva (19-9-1 MMA) and Stefan Struve (27-8 MMA) served as the co-main event for today’s UFC Fight Night 87 card in Rotterdam. Round one begins and Struve lands a right hand and then an uppercut. He follows up with a huge knee while Silva is coming in. Struve with some big elbows from the top. Silva looks to be out. It’s all over!

A women’s bantamweight bout between Germaine de Randamie (6-3 MMA) and Anna Elmose (3-1 MMA) took place at today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam. Round one begins and Elmose immediately ducks under for a single-leg takedown attempt. She doesn’t get it but works some good knees from the clinch. De Randamie is searching for a kimura attempt. Anna is relentless in her search for this opening takedown. She drags de Randamie to the floor but Germaine pops right back up. Good knees from the clinch by both ladies. Nice uppercuts from Anna. Germaine with a big knee. The fighters break. Big shots from de Randamie. Anna desperately shoots in for a takedown. It’s not there. Nice left hand from Germaine. She follows up with a big right and then some knees. Anna with an uppercut. More knees from Germaine. de Randamie with a huge knee to the body that floors Elmose. This one is over.

A key lightweight tilt will take place in South Dakota on July 13, as UFC officials just announced that Michael Chiesa (14-2 MMA) will battle Tony Ferguson (20-3 MMA) in the event’s headliner. Chiesa is coming off an impressive submission victory over Beneil Dariush which he earned at April’s UFC on FOX 19 event. The victory marked “Maverick’s” third in a row, as he had previously submitted Jim Miller and earned a decision victory over Mitch Clarke.

A light heavyweight bout between Nikita Krylov (20-4 MMA) and Francimar Barroso (18-5 MMA) took place at today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam. Round one begins and the pair of light heavyweights immediately begin trading leather. They clinch and Krylov lands some good knees. Barroso is searching for a takedown but Krylov is not having it. Nikita is searching for a single leg. It’s not there. He lands some shoulder strikes and then some knees on Barroso. They break and Barroso throws out some wild punches. Good uppercut from Barroso. He shoots in for a takedown and eventually gets it. Krylov fights his way back up but eats another uppercut for his troubles. Nikita would land a nice combo finished by a head kick to end round one.

A women’s strawweight bout between Karolina Kowalkiewicz (9-0 MMA) and Heather Jo Clark (7-5 MMA) took place at today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam. Heather Jo Clark was able to land some good right hands and control the pace in the opening round. Clark pressed Kowalkiewicz against the fence on a couple of occasions where she landed some good knees and short punches. Karolina did land a good spinning back fist towards the end of round one, but the judges likely scored the round for Clark.

A lightweight bout between Rustam Khabilov (20-3 MMA) and Chris Wade (11-2 MMA) took place at today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam. Round one begins and Wade opens with a leg kick. He follows up with a push kick to the thigh. Khabilov replies with a kick of his own. The Russian misses with an overhand right. Good leg kick from Wade. Khabilov with a takedown attempt but Wade fights him off. Chris is pumping the jab. He lands a couple of good kicks. Rustam replies with a leg kick. Wade lands a push kick to the thigh. Khabilov misses with a spinning high kick. Good counter punch from Wade. Khabilov shoots in and scores a takedown. He has the back of Wade. Good shots from the back by Khabilov. He lands a solid hammer fist. Round one comes to an end.

A middleweight bout between Magnus Cedenblad (14-4 MMA) and Garreth McLellan (13-4 MMA) took place at today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam. Round one begins McLellan lands a couple of kicks to get things started. Magnus replies with a kick to the body of his own. McLellan just misses with a high kick. Magnus with a nice right hand and then a kick to the body. McLellan replies with a leg kick. Good right hand counter for Magnus drops McLellan. He quickly pops back to his feet however and eats a body shot. McLellan throws a kick to the body but eats a jab. Magnus with a good right hand counter shot. McLellan with a body kick. Magnus replies with a front kick to the body. Big right hand lands for Magnus. McLellan with a jab. Round one comes to an end.

A lightweight bout between Jon Tuck (9-3 MMA) and Josh Emmett (10-0 MMA) took place at today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam. Round one begins and Emmett starts things off with a high kick. Tuck with a good combo. Josh charges forward with punches. He lands a good counter shot and then a leg kick on Tuck. Big overhand right scores for Josh. Emmett goes for a high kick but misses. Tuck lands a good left. Josh replies with a good right jab. Emmett with another big overhand right. He follows that up with a high kick. Another good right hand from Josh scores. Round one comes to an end.

A lightweight bout between Yan Cabral (12-3 MMA) and Reza Madadi (14-4 MMA) took place at today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam. Reza Madadi and Yan Cabral went back-and-forth for the better part of three rounds before Madadi was able to land a beautiful combination that left Cabral out on his feet. The referee mercifully stepped in a put a stop to the action.

A welterweight fight between Leon Edwards and Dominic Waters served as the second bout of today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam. Round one begins and Waters opens with a front kick that misses. Waters shoots in and scores a takedown. He quickly moves to half guard but Leon scrambles and jumps up to his feet. Edwards shoots in and scores a takedown of his own. Waters is looking for a submission but Leon breaks free and allows Dominic to stand up. Big kick lands for Edwards. Waters shoots in for a takedown but it is stuffed. Good hammer fist lands for Leon. Edwards moves to the full mount position. He begins working on a submission but eventually opts to let it go. Big elbow from the top by Edwards as round one comes to an end.

A flyweight tilt between Ulka Sasaki (19-3-2 MMA) and Willie Gates (12-7 MMA) kicked off today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam. Sasaki was able to catch Gates in a rear-naked choke late in round two to earn his first career octagon victory.
