Breaking: Michael Chiesa vs. Tony Ferguson headlines July’s UFC Fight Night event in South Dakota

By Chris Taylor - May 8, 2016

A key lightweight tilt will take place in South Dakota on July 13, as UFC officials just announced that Michael Chiesa (14-2 MMA) will battle Tony Ferguson (20-3 MMA) in the event’s headliner.

Chiesa is coming off an impressive submission victory over Beneil Dariush which he earned at April’s UFC on FOX 19 event. The victory marked “Maverick’s” third in a row, as he had previously submitted Jim Miller and earned a decision victory over Mitch Clarke.

Meanwhile, Tony Ferguson will look to extend his impressive win streak to eight in a row by defeating Chiesa this July in South Dakota. “El Cucuy” was expected to fight “The Eagle” Khabib in a number one contender’s bout at last month’s UFC on FOX event, but was unfortunately forced to pull out of the bout due to an injury.
