UFN 88 Results: Lorenz Larkin defeats Jorge Masvidal via split-decision

A welterweight tilt between Jorge Masvidal (29-11 MMA) and Lorenz Larkin (17-5 MMA) took place on the main card of UFC Fight Night 88. Round one begins with a tentative start. Both men are trying to find their range. Larkin with some good leg kicks. He lands a stiff kick to the body of Masvidal. Nice left hook from Larkin. Jorge replies with a leg kick and then a right jab. Lorenz with a nice overhand right. He delivers another big kick the leg of Masvidal. Jorge lands a nice right hand. Masvidal is putting on the pressure now. He clinches Larkin and presses him up against the fence. Good knees from both fighters. They break and Larkin lands another brutal leg kick. Good shot from Masvidal and then a leg kick. Larkin accidently pokes Jorge in the eye during an exchange and the doctor is forced to come in and take a look. Masvidal tells the doctor he will be ok and we restart. Good leg kick from Jorge as the horn sounds to end round one.
UFN 88 Results: Paul Felder defeats Josh Burkman via decision

An intriguing lightweight bout between Paul Felder (12-2 MMA) and Josh Burkman (28-13 MMA) took place at tonight’s UFC Fight Night 88 event in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Burkman opens up with a leg kick. Josh is circling and trying to keep his distance. Big body kick from Felder. Burkman responds with a kick of his own. Felder with a head kick but Josh blocks it. Burkman misses with a knee and then a right hand. Felder with a leg kick. Nice body kick from Josh. Good side kick from Burkman. Josh with a straight left hand. Felder is coming up just short with his punches. Felder lands a shot, Burkman with a combination. Both fighters start throwing big shots. After a wild exchange Josh ducks under a Felder punch and scores a takedown. Paul gets his back to the cage and is able to stand back up. Round one comes to an end.
UFN 88 Results: Sara McMann defeats Jessica Eye via decision

A women’s bantamweight bout featuring Sara McMann (9-3 MMA) taking on Jessica Eye (11-5 MMA) took place on the UFC Fight Night 88 prelims in Las vegas. Sara McMann was able to effectively utilize her wrestling to smother Jessica Eye on route to a unanimous decision victory.

A lightweight bout between Abel Trujillo (15-6 MMA) and Jordan Rinaldi (12-5 MMA) took place on tonight’s UFC Fight Night 88 preliminary card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Trujillo is instantly applying the pressure. He throws a combination then shoots in a for a takedown and gets it. Abel working from the full guard position. Rinaldi gets back to his feet but eats a combination for his efforts. Jordan with a nice right hand. Abel with an uppercut. Another nice right from Jordan as round one comes to an end.

A lightweight tilt between Erik Koch (15-4 MMA) and Shane Campbell (12-5 MMA) kicked off the UFC Fight Night 88 prelims on FOX Sports 1. Erik Koch put on a dominant performance at UFC Fight Night 88, utilizing his slick ground game to submit Shane Campbell via rear-naked choke in the second-round of their preliminary card bout.

A key bantamweight bout between Aljamain Sterling (12-1 MMA) and Bryan Caraway (21-8 MMA) took place on the UFC Fight Night 88 Fight Pass prelims tonight in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Sterling opens up with a front kick that misses. Caraway comes forward with a jab but eats a kick. Bryan lands a left hook. Sterling is throwing some flashy kicks to start. A good leg kick lands for Sterling and then one to the body of Caraway. Sterling shoots in for a takedown but Caraway defends. Sterling has Caraway pressed against the fence and lands a trip. He instantly takes Bryans back and starts looking for a rear-naked choke. Caraway rolls but Sterling stays on his back. Big shots from the top by Sterling. Caraway rolls again and Sterling looks for a rear-naked choke. More shots from the back from Sterling. Round one comes to an end. That was a big opening round for the undefeated Sterling.

A heavyweight bout between Chris De La Rocha (4-2 MMA) and Adam Milstead (8-1 MMA) kicked off UFC Fight Night 88 in Las Vegas. Round one was a back and forth battle. UFC newcomer Adam Milstead land some excellent counter right hands during the opening five minutes. While De La Rocha was able to secure a takedown for some points of his own.

Shortly after his new contract was finalized, Brown signed to fight Jake Ellenberger at UFC 201. The fight is a crucial one for both fighters. Brown enters the bout following his loss to Demian Maia, which saw him drop to #8 on the UFC’s stacked welterweight ranking ladder. Ellenberger on the other hand enters the bout on a 2-fight losing streak, going just 1-4 in his last 5 fights.
