Friday night in Las Vegas, UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk once again defended her strawweight championship when she defeated Claudia Gadelha via unanimous decision. Prior to the fight, Jedrzejczyk revealed her plans to move up to flyweight and become the first female 2-divison UFC champion. After Jedrzejczyk’s win over Gadelha, Joanne Calderwood, who recently won the first ever women’s flyweight fight, called for a fight against Jedrzejczyk.

Friday night in the main event of the TUF 23 Finale, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha had their highly anticipated rematch, this time for the UFC women’s strawweight championship. Jedrzejczyk was able to weather the early storm from Gadelha, and ultimately win via unanimous decision, retaining her strawweight championship in the process.

Friday evening in the main event of the TUF 23 Finale, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha had their highly anticipated grudge match for the women’s strawweight title. Gadelha came out of the gate strong, putting the pressure on the champ through the first two rounds. Ultimately however, Jedrzejczyk’s cardio and striking throughout the second half of the fight helped her to retain her belt by winning via unanimous decision.

TUF 23 Finale Results: Andrew Sanchez defeats Khalil Rountree

The TUF 23 light heavyweight tournament final featured Andrew Sanchez (9-2 MMA) taking on Khalil Rountree (5-1 MMA). Round one begins and Sanchez misses with a body kick. Andrew shoots in for a takedown but Khalil is able to stuff the attempt. Sanchez lands a couple of leg kicks. Sanchez shoots in and lands a takedown. Rountree works his way to the cage and stands back up. Sanchez has his back against the fence. He drops down for a double leg and scores another takedown. Rountree is trying to use the fence to wall walk but Andrew is not having it. Sanchez is working from half guard and landing some short shots from the top. Nice right hands from Sanchez. Rountree stands back up. He misses with a big left and Andrew takes him back to the floor. Sanches is back working in half guard as round one comes to an end.

The TUF 23 strawweight tournament final featured Tatiana Suarez (5-0 MMA) taking on Amanda Cooper (2-2 MMA). Round one begins and Cooper misses with a right hand. Suarez shoots in and lands an early takedown. She begins working from full guard. Nice hammer fists from Tatiana. Cooper looks for an armbar. She can’t sink the submission. They scramble and Suarez winds up back on top. Big shots from the top by Tatiana. Cooper lands a beautiful sweep from the bottom and gets on top. Suarez scrambles and the fighters are back on their feet. Tatiana presses Amanda against the fence and lands a takedown. Good shots form the top by Suarez. She moves to north south position and locks in a d’arce choke. The submission is locked in and Amanda is forced to tap.
TUF 23 Finale Results: Will Brooks defeats Ross Pearson via decision

Former Bellator lightweight champion Will Brooks (18-1 MMA) made his UFC debut against Ross Pearson (19-11 MMA) at tonight’s TUF 23 Finale event in Las Vegas. Round one was a back and forth battle that saw will Brooks slightly edge Pearson in total strikes landed. Will was able to control Ross against the fence for the better portion of the opening round but could not land a takedown.

A featherweight bout between Doo Ho Choi (14-1 MMA) and Thiago Tavares (20-7-1 MMA) took place on tonight’s TUF 23 Finale main card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Choi rushes out and takes the center of the octagon. Tavares shoots in for a takedown attempt and eventually gets it. Choi pops back up to his feet but Thiago drags him back down. Tavares is trying to get Choi away from the fence. The Korean fighter is not having it. Choi stands back up and the fighters clinch against the fence. Thiago lands a trip and they are back on the ground. Once again Choi stands up but Thiago has him pressed against the cage. The fighters break and Choi lands a jab he follows up with a right hand that drops Tavares. He follows up with another shot and Thiago is out cold.

Jon Jones' 'B sample' comes back positive

The bad news continues for pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones. After being pulled from UFC 200 on Wednesday for a potential USADA anti-doping violation, it was announced that USADA would be testing Jones’ ‘B sample’. While Jones and his team admitted that the odds of the sample coming back negative were rather slim, they did hold out hope for the situation. Friday afternoon news broke that the sample did indeed come back positive.
