While MMA fans are certainly familiar with the legendary career of our very own BJ Penn, many MMA fans may not be familiar with the man who helped save Penn’s career following his UFC 46 win over Matt Hughes which saw him capture the welterweight championship. Unfortunately, Penn was experiencing severe neck pain throughout the course of the day. That’s when he met Dr. Pete Goldman, the expert of ‘The Zone Technique’ used to treat numerous top level athletes, as well as ordinary patients.

One fan went way over the top following the judge’s majority decision that had Conor McGregor as the winner over Nate Diaz at UFC 202 over the weekend. According to KZRG, 25-year-old Ulysses Liaina was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon in Missouri after firing gunshots at the Flying J Truck Stop on East 32nd Street.

Prior to Conor McGregor’s UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz, the featherweight champ stated that the pair would need a trilogy fight when he won the rematch. McGregor did just that, winning via majority decision this past Saturday in Las Vegas. During his post-fight Octagon interview, McGregor stated that he wants the trilogy fight to go down at lightweight, rather than welterweight.

UFC President Dana White dropped a bomb on Tuesday when he revealed that he was thinking about a potential UFC light heavyweight title eliminator fight between Anthony Johnson and Jon Jones. Jones was pulled from the main event fight against champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 in July for an Anti-Doping Policy violation, but has recently stated that he and his team have found out good news regarding the case.

Following the win, Johnson and UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier both verbally agreed to a fight. Despite that, UFC President Dana White revealed this week that he is interested in putting together a Jon Jones vs. Anthony Johnson title eliminator fight.

Cody Garbrandt was in the final stages of preparing for his UFC 202 fight with Takeya Mizugaki when he decided to approach Dominick Cruz backstage during fight week to talk some trash. The pair’s rivalry has been a very public one, which reached new heights when Cruz defeated Garbrandt’s training partner and mentor, Urijah Faber, in the co-main event of UFC 199. Shortly after the fight, Garbrandt knocked out Thomas Almeida, and called out the champ.
UFC welterweight notified of 'potential anti-doping violation'

The string of anti-doping violations continued this week when the USADA announced that yet another fighter had been notified of a potential anti-doping violation. China Top Team’s Li Jingliang was notified that an out-of-competition sample collected on May 18th returned positive for a substance which has yet to be disclosed.

Following UFC 202 on Saturday night, the WWE held it’s ‘Summerslam’ event on Sunday evening. In the main event, Brock Lesnar returned to the WWE for the first time since his UFC 200 win over Mark Hunt in July. The win was an extremely controversial one given that Lesnar failed an out-of-competition drug test a month prior to the fight, and then failed his fight night drug test on July 9th. During Lesnar’s WWE walkout, a fan proudly held up a sign that said “Got juice” in reference to Lesnar’s failed drug test.

At the end of 2015, Conor McGregor stepped into the Octagon for what many believed to be the toughest test of his mixed martial arts career. Opposite McGregor was undisputed UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, who had yet to taste defeat inside the Octagon as he reigned as the 145 pound kingpin. McGregor made short work of Aldo, knocking him out in just 13 seconds with a beautiful counter left. This past weekend, McGregor picked up a majority decision win over Nate Diaz, avenging his UFC 196 loss to Diaz earlier this year. With UFC President Dana White adamant that McGregor will either return to featherweight, or vacate his belt, Nova Uniao head coach Andre Pederneiras believes McGregor isn’t confident enough to have a rematch with Aldo.

In the wake of UFC 202, the NSAC has ruled to officially extend Brock Lesnar’s temporary suspension. Lesnar, who defeated Mark Hunt via unanimous decision on the main card of UFC 200, failed an out of competition drug test prior to the fight, as well as a fight night drug test.

While Conor McGregor’s performance in the main event of UFC 202, during his fight with Nate Diaz, may have won over a lot of MMA fans, UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez was not impressed. McGregor, who gassed early in the fight, but was able to catch a second wind, was ultimately awarded a majority decision after two of the three judges cageside scored the fight 48-47.

Nate Diaz believes that he won the five-round war with Conor McGregor that went down at UFC 202. After the fight was all said and done, the judges awarded McGregor with a majority decision. However, it seems like the judge’s decision is still in Diaz’s head and he thinks it is all quite funny.
