Several years ago, NCAA Division I All-American Johny Hendricks was considered to be one of the best fighters on the planet. After dropping a controversial split decision to Georges St-Pierre in the main event of UFC 167 back in 2013, Hendricks went on to win the vacant welterweight championship by defeating Robbie Lawler at UFC 171. In just his next fight, Hendricks lost the belt to Robbie Lawler via split decision, in a fight which was considered controversial by many. Since then, Hendricks has gone on a bit of a skid, going just 1-2, recently going on a 2-fight losing streak that most recently saw him drop a unanimous decision to Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 200 in a catchweight fight due to Hendricks missing weight.

Prior to UFC 202 in August, where Conor McGregor stepped into the Octagon to avenge his UFC 196 loss to Nate Diaz, UFC President Dana White stated that after the fight, McGregor must either drop back down to featherweight to defend his belt against interim champion Jose Aldo, or vacate the belt. After McGregor defeated Diaz via majority decision on the record breaking card, he remained openly confident that his next fight would take place at lightweight, despite the fact that Dana White was adamant about him either returning to 145, or vacating the belt.
Sergio Pettis releases statement on cars being burned

Unfortunate news surfaced this week that former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis was targeted by someone committing a violent act as they set fire to cars in Pettis’ driveway. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fires, however ‘Showtime’ released a statement via social media about the situation, requesting that anyone with information turn in in to police.

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has had an incredibly busy year that has seen him defeat Anderson Silva in London, knock out Luke Rockhold on just 2 weeks notice to win the UFC championship, and then defend the belt against Dan Henderson in Manchester, England. Despite that, Bisping isn’t ready to call it a year just yet. After ‘The Count’ was rumored to be fighting former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre at UFC 206 in Toronto in November, Bisping set his sights on a fight at the event despite the fact that Georges St-Pierre announced this week that negotiations with the UFC haven’t been going well, and he will be unable to fight Bisping at UFC 206.
Mark Hunt gearing up to take UFC to court

Fan-favorite fighter Mark Hunt has been quiet recently in regards to Brock Lesnar’s pair of failed drug tests surrounding their UFC 200 fight back in July. When the UFC announced at UFC 199 in June that Lesnar and Hunt would be fighting at UFC 200, it was also revealed that they had waived the mandatory 4-month period in which a fighter is eligible to be tested by USADA before becoming an active fighter and being cleared to fight. Lesnar’s exemption stretched over the course of the first 3 months, allowing him to only be tested starting one month before the fight, which was when it was announced that he would be fighting.

When Anthony “Showtime” Pettis returned home on early Thursday, three vehicles were engulfed in flames outside of his home. The former UFC lightweight champion and current featherweight contender was targeted by an unknown suspect or suspects, according to Milwaukee police, who are investigating the car fires as arson.

Current number one UFC ranked bantamweight TJ Dillashaw is more than upset over the recently announced bantamweight title fight between champion Dominick Cruz and number 6 UFC ranked contender Cody Garbrandt. Dillashaw is looking to rematch Cruz after the two fought a close five-round title fight at UFC Fight Night 81 back in January where Cruz walked away with the belt by judge’s split decision. Now with the bantamweight title fight between Cruz and Garbrandt taking place at UFC 207, Dillashaw is simply baffled seeing Cruz in the position he feels he should rightfully be in.

The former interim UFC welterweight champion unfortunately is in the midst of a 2-fight losing streak that saw him drop a controversial split decision to Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC 195 in a performance that many thought should have earned him the welterweight title, and most recently lose via first round submission to Demian Maia at ‘UFC Fight Night: Vancouver’ in August. Prior to his fight with Robbie Lawler, Condit admitted that he was likely nearing the end of his MMA career, however shortly following his loss to Robbie Lawler, Condit took to social media to announce that he would be stepping into the Octagon to fight Demian Maia for “one more” fight.

Alexander Emelianenko released from prison three years early, plans to fight in 2016

Alexander Emelianenko, brother of MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko, has been released from prison three years early on parole for “good behavior” according to Interfax.ru. Emelianenko was sentenced to four and a half years in prison back in 2015 after he was convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting his housekeeper, while forcing her to take “narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances”. According to the initial report at the time of his conviction, Emelianenko took the housekeeper’s passport, and forced her to take drugs and perform sexual favors for him in order to get the passport back. Emelianenko claimed the entire encounter was consensual, and plead not guilty to the charges. Despite that he was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, where he has remained until the present time.
