Last year, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that he was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, which causes him to gain weight at a more rapid pace. With spending nearly his entire career fighting at light heavyweight, Jackson said that going back to 205 may only be possible if he changes his lifestyle and diet. Even with dieting, Jackson told Helwani that he will likely be on medication for the hypothyroidism condition for the rest of his life.

bjpenndotcom - March 31, 2017

Recently, top ranked UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov was forced out of his UFC 209 co-main event scrap with Tony Ferguson after being unable to make the lightweight title fight limit of 155 pounds. Nurmagomedov was taken to the hospital in the early hours of the morning after enduring a tremendous amount of pain. Ultimately, after Nurmagomedov was pulled from the card for being unable to compete, Tony Ferguson was also pulled from the card. While there were initially no details regarding when Nurmagomedov would be able to return to the Octagon, his father revealed during a recent interview that ‘The Eagle’ was doing “good” health-wise, and had visited several physicians. In addition, it was revealed that ‘The Eagle’ was looking to return for a title fight in August or September, after he finished his observance of Ramadan.

bjpenndotcom - March 31, 2017

Top ranked UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov was recently scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson in the co-main event of UFC 209 on March 4th, however tragedy struck the day of weigh-ins as Nurmagomedov was taken to the hospital and given an IV. Subsequently, given that after IV fluids he would have been unable to make weight had he been healthy, ‘The Eagle’ was pulled from the scrap. Initially there were conflicting reports about Nurmagomedov’s next move. While initial reports emerged that Nurmagomedov’s father was possibly pushing for his son to retire, AKA teammate Luke Rockhold revealed that ‘The Eagle’ was healthy and looking to rebook his scheduled showdown with Tony Ferguson.

Dos Anjos is being targeted to fight Tarec Saffiedine in his highly anticipated welterweight debut, which he announced following his second straight loss at lightweight, which came to Tony Ferguson after losing his lightweight title to Eddie Alvarez in the summer of 2016. His opponent, Tarec Saffiedine, will be looking to snap a 2-fight skid that saw him drop back to back decision losses to Rick Story and Dong Hyun Kim.

Daniel Cormier talks first Anthony Johnson fight, upcoming rematch

bjpenndotcom - March 31, 2017

Back in 2015, Daniel Cormier stepped into the Octagon, fresh off his UFC 182 defeat to Jon Jones, to fight Anthony Johnson for the vacant light heavyweight championship. Cormier filled in for Jones at UFC 187, after Jones was stripped of the light heavyweight title for his infamous hit and run incident. Despite being hit with a massive punch early on in the fight, Cormier managed to grind Johnson down, and eventually earn a 3rd round submission win to claim the vacant light heavyweight title. Now, ahead of his rematch with Johnson nearly two years later, he spoke to MMAJunkie to discuss what Johnson did well in the first fight, and how he can emerge from the second victorious.

Bellator 175 weigh-in results: Bulky 'Rampage' out-weighs 'King Mo' by 41 lbs.

Tom Taylor - March 30, 2017

Back in May of 2014, in the main event of Bellator’s first-ever pay-per-view, former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson scored a controversial – and admittedly lackluster – defeat of Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal. Tomorrow night in the main event of Bellator 175, the two Bellator stars will go at it again. The key difference between this Bellator 175 rematch and the pair’s original fight is that it will occur at heavyweight, rather than light heavyweight. That means neither man was forced to endure a weight cut.

Later this year, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping will attempt to defend his title against returning welterweight legend Georges St-Pierre – that is, unless Bisping decides to give the title shot back to Yoel Romero, or fight Tyron Woodley instead. Given that St-Pierre has never fought at middleweight before, his being given a title shot over legitimate contenders like Romero and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza was immediately controversial. Why the UFC went this direction, of course, is easy to understand. They’re trying to make some big money. At least, that’s what streaking welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal thinks.

Exactly like Conor McGregor said he was going to do, he went to Las Vegas to meet with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to negotiate his fine so he could apply to get his boxing license in the state and move forward with putting together the fight against Floyd Mayweather. “I love the Vegas commission,” McGregor said in January during his pay-per-view interview in Manchester. “We’ve come to an understanding. I’m gonna fly out there and fix it. I’m gonna get my Las Vegas boxing (license) and then we’ll see where the f**k Floyd’s at.”

Rampage Jackson clarifies comment about "biggest regret" being MMA

bjpenndotcom - March 30, 2017

Recently, MMA legend Quinton Rampage Jackson stirred up quite a bit of controversy when he revealed that his “biggest regret” was getting into MMA, because it took him out of Memphis, away from his family. Rampage of course has been competing in MMA professional for nearly 20 years, and is now currently competing in Bellator MMA, where he picked up a split decision win over Satoshi Ishii back in June of 2016.
