Now that Holly Holm has returned to bantamweight and Germaine de Randamie seems poised to do the same, the UFC’s new women’s featherweight division comes down to two fighters: Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Megan Anderson, who will battle for gold in the co-main event of UFC 214 this July 29. Two fighters, of course, is not enough for a healthy division. In order to maximize the potential of its new women’s featherweight division, the UFC will need to sign many more female featherweights. Strangely, however, the promotion has seemed very hesitant to do so.

The unfortunate thing is that, while Lee’s rear-naked choke was deep, Chiesa never actually tapped out or lost consciousness. Instead, referee Mario Yamasaki misread the situation, and stopped the fight early. Since then, Yamasaki has received a good deal of criticism, as everyone from Chiesa to UFC President Dana White has shared their distaste for his officiating.

Though Kish showcased all the boundless heart for which she’s become known, she simply could not keep up with her veteran foe on the mat. By the time the third round was over, Herrig had wracked up 9:22 of control time, and landed more than 100 significant strikes. She also nearly finished the fight with a deep-looking rear naked choke. Needless to say, she left Oklahoma City with a unanimous decision win.

Though Christensen was able to regain his footing momentarily, he was then put down again by another thunderous left, and polished off by a series of clobbering standing-to-ground punches.

Over the last few weeks, the MMA community has watched on in bewilderment as bodybuilder Matthew Kline Kader and UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt engaged in a heated Twitter beef, and ultimately agreed to fight inside Team Alpha Male, Garbrandt’s home base in Sacramento, California. Contrary to widespread doubt that this weird beef would actually go anywhere, Kader showed up in Sacramento earlier today. Through various posts on Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, the fitness star documented his arrival in the city, and his plans to storm Team Alpha Male.
