It did not take long for Lee and Ferguson – who stands out as the top lightweight not named Conor McGregor – to start going at it.

In the co-main event of this 13-fight card, former UFC welterweight champion and Oklahoma’s own Johny Hendricks took his second fight at middleweight opposite dangerous veteran Tim Boetsch. Though Hendricks won his first bout at middleweight, things did not go so well in his second fight in the division. After a relatively slow first round, Boetsch planted a crushing head-kicked on his foe’s head, trapped him against the cage, and force-fed him a multi-course meal of uppercuts until he crumbled to the mat in a dazed heap.

The fourth fight of this event’s six-fight main card occurred at strawweight, where established veteran Felice Herrig took on the gritty Justine Kish. This one was all Herrig. Though Kish showcased all the boundless heart for which she’s become known, she simply could not keep up with her veteran foe on the mat. By the time the third round was over, Herrig had wracked up 9:22 of control time, and landed more than 100 significant strikes. She also nearly finished the fight with a deep-looking rear naked choke. Needless to say, she left Oklahoma City with a unanimous decision win.

It was a vintage win for Guida. For three rounds, the wild-haired veteran set a frenetic pace, repeatedly dragging his foe to the mat, where he battered him with a veritable meteor shower of ground-and-pound. By the time the third round was done, Guida had amassed almost 10 minutes of control on the canvas, and bludgeoned his foe with a whopping 131 strikes – more than enough to earn him a unanimous decision win.
