UFC 225, which goes down on June 9 in beautiful Chicago, Illinois, looks like an early frontrunner for 2018’s Card of the Year. One of the latest additions to this absolutely stacked card is a women’s featherweight showdown between former Invicta featherweight champ Megan Anderson, and former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm. Given that there is only a handful of fighters in the UFC women’s featherweight division, it should come as no surprise that this newly announced matchup is of particular interest to divisional champ Cris Cyborg. Speaking to Amy Kaplan of Fansided, Cyborg gave her take on this matchup. While she isn’t surprised that the UFC put the fight together, she also doesn’t seem sure it was the right fight to make.

Tomorrow night, the UFC will take over Glendale, Arizona’s Gila River Arena with an exciting, 14-fight card. This UFC Glendale card will be headlined by a lightweight showdown between long-time contender Dustin Poirier, and former World Series of Fighting champion Justin Gaethje. The co-main event of the evening, meanwhile, will pit former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit against Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira, who steps in to replace the injured Matt Brown on short notice. Other features of this UFC Glendale main card include the sophomore UFC effort of red-hot prospect Israel Adesanya, who battles Italy’s Marvin Vettori, and a women’s strawweight bout between former Invicta atomweight champ Michelle Waterson and Cortney Casey. The undercard, finally, includes names like Tim Boetsch, Antonio Carlos Junior, John Moraga, Wilson Reis, Krzysztof Jotko, Brad Tavares, Dhiego Lima, and Yushin Okami.

After scoring an exciting knockout win over Luis Henrique da Silva in his September UFC debut, Gokhan Saki was scheduled for a quick turnaround opposite Khalil Rountree. The bout was expected to occur at UFC 219 in December. Regrettably, Saki was forced out of this fight with an injury, and replaced by debuting polish fighter Michal Oleksiejczuk. Oleksiejczuk then defeated Rountree by decision, but the bout was overturned when the Pole tested positive for clomiphene.
Jimmie Rivera accuses Cody Garbrandt of ducking him for an easier fight

On June 1, in the main event of the UFC’s stop in Utica, NY, Jimmie Rivera will fight former WSOF champ Marlon Moraes. For a time, however, Rivera was asking for a different fight: a showdown with former champion Cody Garbrandt. In the end, of course, Rivera didn’t get his desired scrap with Garbrandt. In his opinion, that’s because Garbrandt is ducking him.

The UFC’s May 19 debut in Santiago, Chile seems to have taken a major hit, as Raphael Marinho of Combate is reporting that the card’s Volkan Oezdemir vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua co-headliner is off. According to Combate’s report, Oezdemir will not be able to leave the United States as planned due to legal issues stemming from an incident in late 2017. At this time, it’s not known whether Shogun will fight a new opponent on the card, or if the bout will be rescheduled for an event on American soil.

Last weekend, Conor McGregor and a handful of his cronies unleashed a ridiculous rampage in Brooklyn, New York—the host city for UFC 223. This rampage reached its violent crescendo when McGregor threw a hand truck threw the window of a shuttle bus carrying multiple UFC 223 fighters, injuring both Ray Borg and Michael Chiesa. It was a terrible scene, and UFC strawweight Michelle Waterson is worried what will happen if it goes unpunished. Speaking at a Thursday media day promoting her Saturday night UFC Glendale clash with Cortney Casey, Waterson explained this worry.

On April Fools Day of all days out of the 365 days in a year, the UFC announced to the world that interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson had been injured out of his main event title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. That by itself was enough to put everyone into a frenzy of disbelief.

While Rockhold is definitely interested in this fight, he’d prefer to wait until after his friend and training partner, UFC light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier, battles Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight belt at UFC 226 this July.

In the wake of UFC 223, which saw Khabib Nurmagomedov capture lightweight gold, and Rose Namajunas cement her status as strawweight champ, the UFC has updated its official UFC rankings. The post notable change to these new UFC rankings occurred at lightweight, where Conor McGregor has lost the (C) beside his name, and has rejoined the lightweight contender pool. It’s also worth noting that the new champ Nurmagomedov has taken a massive trip up the pound-four-pound list.

Few if any cards have ever been as destroyed in a lead up to an event, especially considering how it fell apart. By now, you have surely heard about Conor McGregor‘s antics. Resulting from the incident were three fight cancelations, one of which being a flyweight tilt between Ray Borg vs Brandon Moreno. Borg was forced out of the bout due to corneal abrasions in his eye from the bus window’s glass that was broken by McGregor.
