When ONE Championship traded Ben Askren to the UFC in exchange for Johnson, however, it was suddenly a possibility. As luck would have it, Bibiano Fernandes and Demetrious Johnson are both set to compete at ONE: A New Era on March 31 in Tokyo — in back-to-back fights.

Stephen Thompson still has Robbie Lawler on his mind “Wonderboy” asked for a fight with “Ruthless” last year only instead to see Lawler face off against Ben Askren at UFC 235. Tyron Woodley feels timing is perfect for showdown with Conor McGregor

Tom Taylor - March 22, 2019

Conor McGregor recently divulged that he’s in negotiations for a return to the cage this July, but that he’s also still seeking an ownership stake in the UFC. Former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley, who just lost the title to Kamaru Usman, doesn’t believe McGregor is in a position to be making these kinds of demands. In an interview with TMZ, Woodley suggested McGregor fight him first. If the Irishman is able to clear that huge hurdle, he’ll be in a much more favorable position.

Remembering XARM: Art Davie’s other combat sports creation

Tom Taylor - March 21, 2019

In 2018, Art Davie was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame and immortalized for his role in creating the Las Vegas based MMA organization. Yet launching the UFC is not his only claim to fame. Roughly 15 years after he helped birth the UFC, Davie offered the world yet another brand new combat sports venture. He called this creation XARM (pronounced “ex-arm”), and it’s absolutely worthy of remembrance. XARM was a fusion of arm-wrestling and MMA, and it was every bit as ridiculous as it sounds. Yet there was a time, not all that long ago, when Davie and his partners were pushing this bizarre, hybrid sport as the obvious successor to the UFC and the next step in the evolution of combat sports.
