UFC star Michael Chandler has explained why he doesn’t want to walk away from the Conor McGregor fight.

For the longest time now, Michael Chandler has been pushing for a fight against Conor McGregor. After their season of coaching The Ultimate Fighter, it seemed like just a matter of time before an official announcement was made. Alas, up to this point, nothing has been confirmed by the promotion.

Instead, Chandler has been made to wait with McGregor not yet committing to a set return date. Dana White has addressed the issue on several occasions, but it doesn’t seem to have changed anything.

As such, a lot of fans and media members have wondered whether or not it’s time for Chandler to move on to pastures new. In a recent interview, the 37-year-old explained why that isn’t an option.

Good old Chandler

“Nobody’s had to feel like they’ve had to wait longer than me,” Chandler said. “I’ve been ready to fight since right after The Ultimate Fighter, but I also understand that the time off has been good, the time with my family has been good, business has been booming outside of me fighting in the cage for a paycheck. Ultimately, Conor’s got his stuff going on, he’s now promoting Road House that’s coming out…

“We’re not getting off this train. I have way too many assurances that this fight is happening to think otherwise.”

Whether you like him or you don’t, nobody can deny that Chandler has done everything in his power to try and make this happen.
