Scott Hernandez - November 10, 2016

While Conor McGregor boasts an impressive 20-3 professional record that has seen him go 8-1 throughout the course of his three year stint with the UFC, he faces arguably the toughest test of his mixed martial arts career this Saturday when he steps into the Octagon against UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205, the UFC’s historic event at the Madison Square Garden.

Eddie Alvarez goes off on "scrawny, skinny Irishman" Conor McGregor

While it will be just over 48 hours until UFC featherweight superstar Conor Mcgregor and UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez step into the Octagon to square off in a highly anticipated lightweight title fight, the trash talk between the pair is at an all-time high. Wednesday afternoon following the UFC 205 open-workouts, Mystic Mac gave his prediction for the historic lightweight title fight, saying that he believes he can finish Alvarez in just one round, a feat no one has been able to accomplish throughout the course of Alvarez’ 32 professional fights spanning over the past thirteen years.

That is all if McGregor does, in fact, beat Alvarez in their title bout slated to take place at 155 pounds.

Tom Taylor - November 9, 2016

UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez is now just days away from the first defense of his title. This defense, which will occur in the main event of Saturday night’s UFC 205, will see him attempt to thwart featherweight champ Conor McGregor‘s attempt to become the first fighter in UFC history to hold to belts at once. As this massive bout draws ever closer, Alvarez is fulfilling the last of his media obligations. One of these obligations was the media workout that traditionally occurs in the lead-up to a card of this scale. After this workout, which occured on the home hardwood of The New York Knicks, Alvarez took a moment to address the media and fans in attendance. During this interaction with the crowd, he offered up a prediction as to the outcome of his looming bout with McGregor.

If Alvarez gets his hand raised above “The Notorious,” his stock will surely shoot through the roof taking out one of the biggest stars in the sport. John Kavanagh explains similarities between Eddie Alvarez & Rafael dos Anjos

Scott Hernandez - November 8, 2016

While Conor McGregor and Rafael dos Anjos may not have fought at UFC 196 for the lightweight championship as initially planned, McGregor’s training for dos Anjos very well could have helped him prepare for his current opponent, Eddie Alvarez. McGregor, who faces Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205 this Saturday, where he hopes to capture the lightweight championship and become the first man in the history f the UFC to simultaneously hold two championship belts, was set to face dos Anjos in the main event of UFC 196 back in March for the lightweight title. Unfortunately, just two weeks before the fight, dos Anjos pulled out of the fight with a broken foot and was replaced by Nate Diaz, who ultimately handed McGregor the first loss of his UFC career.

“The Notorious” Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez were a part of a UFC 205 conference call with the media on Thursday. The two opponents had their verbal warfare going back and forth but one of the exchanges, in particular, was quite entertaining. McGregor was asked by a member of the media if he was preparing for Eddie Alvarez’s grinding wrestling style, which he had some trouble with against Chad Mendes at UFC 189 back in July of 2015.

Eddie Alvarez: I will make the UFC great again

Scott Hernandez - November 4, 2016

UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez is undoubtably a veteran of the sport of mixed martial arts. With a professional record of 28 wins and 4 losses that recently saw him capture the UFC lightweight championship earlier this year by knocking out Rafael dos Anjos in the first round of their scrap back in July, the lightweight champ is now set to headline arguably the biggest event in the history of MMA, UFC 205 on November 12th. Alvarez’s UFC 205 fight with featherweight champion Conor McGregor has already broken several Madison Square Garden records according to UFC President Dana White, despite the fact that the fight is still over a week away.

Eddie Alvarez explains why he felt unthreatened by Conor McGregor during staredown

Scott Hernandez - November 2, 2016

At the UFC 205 press conference several months ago, UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, and UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor both appeared on stage to field questions from media members, and talk some trash in anticipation of their historic champion vs. champion fight on November 12th. At the conclusion of the press conference, the men came face to face for the first time for their first staredown before the fight. While the moment certainly appeared to be an intense one for fans, with McGregor getting in Alvarez’ face, forcing UFC President Dana White to separate them, Alvarez stated after the event that he had never felt more unthreatened by an opponent than he did when he came face to face with McGregor.

Eddie Alvarez: The sport needs guys like Conor McGregor

Scott Hernandez - November 2, 2016

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is certainly a polarizing figure in the MMA community. While some applaud McGregor for his ability to talk trash to his opponents on the microphone and generate an enormous audience for his fights, others simply aren’t fans of McGregor’s brash persona. While his trash talk certainly doesn’t usually go over well with his opponents, it can’t be denied that fans tune in to McGregor’s fights. For example, McGregor set the record for tickets selling out in the shortest amount of time when he headlined ‘UFC Fight Night: Dublin’ against Diego Brandao in 2014. In addition, McGregor’s UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz back in August set the UFC pay-per view record, dethroning UFC 100 as the biggest pay-per view in company history. In addition, McGregor’s first fight with Nate Diaz, UFC 196, also ranks as the third biggest pay-per view in company history behind UFC 100, and UFC 202.
