Tom Taylor - May 30, 2019

It was recently announced that UFC 240 will be co-headlined by a featherweight showdown between former UFC champ Cris Cyborg and former Invicta champ Felicia Spencer. Former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate admires Spencer for taking this fight, but just doesn’t see how she can win it. Am I wrong?? https://t.co/fUdxV3LZK8

BREAKING | Cris Cyborg vs Felicia Spencer being finalized for UFC 240

Drake Riggs - May 29, 2019

After recently campaigning for the only fight that makes sense for her in the division… outside of a title fight rematch, Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino (20-2) appears to be getting her wish at UFC 240. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto has confirmed that the UFC is finalizing the featherweight pairing for a co-main event slot between Cyborg and the undefeated most recent Invicta FC champion, Felicia Spencer (7-0) for UFC 240 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 27.

Cris Cyborg responds to challenge from UFC Rochester winner Felicia Spencer

Thomas Taylor - May 19, 2019

Former UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg knows who she wants to fight next. She also knows when and where she wants her next fight to happen. Speaking on Twitter, the former champ issued a challenge to Canada’s Felicia Spencer, who dropped jaws by submitting former Invicta champ Megan Anderson on the main card of UFC Rochester over the weekend. Cyborg is hoping to meet the Canadian at UFC 240, which is scheduled for July 27 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Cris Cyborg urges Macy Chiasson to move up to featherweight, Chiasson responds

Tom Taylor - May 10, 2019

Macy Chiasson has looked like an absolute savage in the UFC bantamweight division, scoring back-to-back stoppage victories over Gina Mazany and Sarah Moras since dropping down from the featherweight division. That being said, she appeared to endure a pretty rough weigh cut ahead of her recent stoppage win over Moras. She actually missed her mark on her first attempt, and had to use the infamous weigh-in towel to hit the division’s 136-pound limit on her second try.

Cris Cyborg calls for action after Conor McGregor - Khabib Nurmagomedov beef gets out of hand

Tom Taylor - April 4, 2019

Over the last few days, the animosity between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov has reached a boiling point, as the two lightweight stars have bombarded each other trash talk widely deemed to be a step too far. Conor McGregor, for example, made several comments thought to be grossly insensitive toward the muslim faith, while Khabib Nurmagomedov flat-out called McGregor a rapist amid the sexual assault accusations the Irishman is currently facing.

Manager outlines plans for return of Cris Cyborg: 'She’d love to fight for the UFC'

Tom Taylor - February 19, 2019

The future of former UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is currently somewhat murky. After losing her title to Amanda Nunes in December, the Brazilian legend is hoping to return to the cage at UFC 237 in Curitiba, Brazil, in May. However, she’ll first have to sign a new deal with the UFC, which is not a certainty. Manager Audie Attar updated on the Cris Cyborg situation on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday.

Cris Cyborg doesn't think Amanda Nunes loss will hurt UFC contract negotiations

Cole Shelton - February 12, 2019

Cris Cyborg is one of the greatest female fighters to ever compete in MMA. For well over a decade, she was simply dominant, going 20-0-1 after losing her first professional fight. Then, at UFC 232, Cyborg had her toughest fight to date when Amanda Nunes moved up in weight to challenge her for the UFC featherweight title. Many believe it would be a close fight, but Nunes shocked the world. She knocked Cyborg out in just 51 seconds to become the new UFC featherweight champion.

Miesha Tate gives interesting perspective on Cris Cyborg's loss to Amanda Nunes

Tom Taylor - January 25, 2019

After more than a decade of dominance, UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg’s reign came to a shocking end at UFC 232, when she was knocked out by reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes in just over a minute. In the opinion of former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, Cyborg’s shocking loss to Amanda Nunes can be attributed to the fact that she didn’t stick to her strategy. That being said, Tate feels Cyborg has never really needed a strategy before, so she can’t exactly be faulted for that mistake.

Cris Cyborg open to lightweight fight with PFL star Kayla Harrison

Tom Taylor - January 17, 2019

Last night, new UFC featherweight champ Amanda Nunes stated — apparently jokingly — that she is done with the featherweight division. Nunes followed this announcement by suggesting that Cris Cyborg, the woman she knocked out to win the UFC featherweight belt, fight lightweight prospect Kayla Harrison. Sorry Cristiane but I’m done with 145. My Goal was to be a double champ. But, now I can help you build the division. I got someone for you @Judo_Kayla is a true 145er

Amanda Nunes announces she's 'done with 145,' suggests a different matchup for Cris Cyborg

Thomas Taylor - January 16, 2019

In the co-main event of UFC 232 in late December, UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes moved up to the featherweight division, where she authored a shocking knockout victory over long-time champ Cris Cyborg to capture the UFC featherweight title. Mere weeks after becoming a two-division UFC champion, Amanda Nunes has now announced that she is done with the featherweight division. This news is not likely to go over well with Cris Cyborg, who’s been campaigning for a rematch with Nunes ever since she lost the title to her at UFC 232.

Cris Cyborg encourages UFC not to let her go

Tom Taylor - January 16, 2019

The UFC featherweight title reign of Cris Cyborg has come to an end — at least for now. Despite her recent loss to Amanda Nunes, however, Cyborg remains one of the most fearsome women on the planet, and a definite MMA star. As such, she believes it would unwise of the UFC to let her take her services elsewhere after her next fight, which is the final obligation on her current UFC contract. If Cris Cyborg does leave the UFC after her next fight, she believes her legions of fans will follow her.

Coach updates on Cris Cyborg's status with the UFC

Tom Taylor - January 9, 2019

Cris Cyborg is no longer the UFC women’s featherweight champion. The long-time titleholder’s reign came to a shocking halt in the co-main event of UFC 232 in late December, when she was knocked out by Amanda Nunes in just 51 seconds. Given that Cyborg’s current UFC contract will expire in March, some fans have speculated that she might take her services elsewhere at that point — perhaps to the boxing world, or to Japan for an exhibition bout.

Cris Cyborg echoes Conor McGregor, shares interest in exhibition fight in Tokyo

Tom Taylor - January 8, 2019

Back at UFC 232 in late December, the longstanding title reign of UFC featherweight champ Cris Cyborg came to a shocking end at the hands of Amanda Nunes. Given Cyborg’s status as one of MMA’s most dominant champions ever, most fans feel that she deserves an immediate opportunity to avenge her loss to Nunes and reclaim the UFC featherweight title. If she doesn’t get this opportunity, however, she’s got a backup plan.

PFL's Kayla Harrison still hoping to fight Cris Cyborg

Tom Taylor - January 4, 2019

Rising PFL star Kayla Harrison is often compared to fellow Olympic judoka Ronda Rousey. Yet she says one of the main differences between her and Rousey is that she actually wants to fight Cris Cyborg. “That’s always been the difference between me and Ronda Rousey,” Harrison told ESPN recently. “She never wanted to fight Cyborg. I was always like, ‘I can’t wait to fight Cyborg.’

UFC bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes didn’t just beat featherweight champ Cris Cyborg at UFC 232, she knocked her out in 51 seconds. The moment the fight was waved on, Nunes charged forward, wading through Cyborg’s offense to land power shots of her own. And suddenly, Cyborg was down.

At UFC 232 this past Saturday night, we witnessed the first ever female super fight take place when the UFC featherweight and bantamweight champions met inside the Octagon. Amanda Nunes reflects on victory over Cris Cyborg

Tom Taylor - January 1, 2019

Last Saturday night, in the co-main event of UFC 232, UFC women’s bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes did the unthinkable, handing long-time featherweight champ Cris Cyborg her first loss in well over a decade with a thudding, first-round knockout. With this jaw-dropping victory, Amanda Nunes became the first female UFC fighter to hold titles in two divisions concurrently. She also became one of just three fighters ever to accomplish this feet, joining Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier in that prestigious chapter of the MMA history book.

Dana White shuts down Amanda Nunes vs. Cris Cyborg immediate rematch

Tom Taylor - December 30, 2018

Amanda Nunes’ 51-second knockout of long-time featherweight champion Cris Cyborg was about as one-sided a fight as you’ll get in mixed martial arts. Yet the incredible run of dominance that preceded this loss for Cyborg has many members of the MMA community calling for an immediate rematch between the two Brazilian juggernauts. Cyborg, they feel, deserves the opportunity for to redeem herself. UFC President Dana White doesn’t seem to share this opinion — at least not right now.
