Amanda Nunes claims Cris Justino turned down rematch, Cyborg responds

Cris Cyborg has made her feelings to Dana White very clear, and they’re not all good. During an interview this month on the Ariel Helwani show, Cyborg responded to comments that she does not want to fight Amanda Nunes.

‘Why is Dana White saying you don’t want this fight?’ asked Ariel Helwani.

“I was at home watching the press conference and I can not believe he said that,” explained Cyborg. “He knows I text him a day after the fight (Nunes vs Cyborg), after the post-press conference saying ‘man I want a rematch.”

“You know what he’s trying to do, he’s trying to damage my brand saying ‘Cris is scary, Cris doesn’t want to fight.’ He’s the type of guy to say I’m Wanderlei Silva in a dress, he’s the type of guy laughing when Joe Rogan says I have a di**. He’s this type of guy, he’s going online saying I’m afraid ‘cos he wants to damage my brand. It does not damage my brand, people who follow me know. People who followed me from the beginning of my career know who I am. I’m not afraid of anybody.”

Cris Cyborg received her first UFC loss, a first-round KO from Amanda Nunes in December 2018 at UFC 232. Cyborg has humbly accepted the loss but is nevertheless vocal about her hopes for a rematch. With no sign of a rematch any time soon, Cyborg is fighting Felicia Spencer at UFC 240 on July 27th. On Twitter, Cyborg again blamed Dana White for no rematch.

“I’m fighting July 27th because said no to the rematch and that is why it isn’t happening,” she said.

Like Dana White, the current bantamweight and featherweight champion, Amanda Nunes has also claimed Cyborg was offered a rematch but turned down the opportunity. She even said that Dana White predicted she would beat Cris Cyborg a second time.

‘The Lioness’ will be looking to defend her bantamweight title during her next match which takes place July 6th at UFC 239 against Holly Holm.
