VIDEO | Floyd Mayweather explains why he is glad he didn't knock Conor McGregor out cold

Russell Ess - September 22, 2017

While some will still argue that the 10th round TKO stoppage in the Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor boxing match was either early or justified, the man delivering the punches is glad he didn’t knock “The Notorious” out cold. In an interview following their multi-million dollar boxing match, Mayweather was asked if he wished that the ref did not stop the fight to give him the chance to put McGregor to sleep, which the Irishman said he would have preferred.

Jeremy Stephens Posts a Savage Belated Comeback to McGregor's Infamous Line

Justin Golightly - September 21, 2017

Jeremy Stephens was able to put on a great performance against scrappy veteran Gilbert Melendez at UFC 215, but there’s one exchange he’d like to forget. Back at the UFC 205 press conference, he tried to zing Conor McGregor on the spot by saying he’s the ‘hardest hitting 145er’ up there. Quick-witted McGregor clapped back by asking who the ‘fook’ was that speaking to him. The line has been memed, remixed, and quoted endlessly ever since. Just a couple of days ago, Stephens was even trolled by Korean Zombie on Twitter with it after calling him out. Finally, Stephens exacted his revenge.

Conor McGregor Could Address Congress About The Ali Act for MMA

Justin Golightly - September 21, 2017

Right after Conor McGregor hoisted two UFC titles above his head at UFC 205, he put on one of his signature suits and strolled to the post-fight press conference. It was there, celebration whiskey probably still on his breath, that he vowed he was coming back for a piece of the whole company. In the meantime, he ventured outside of the Octagon (while still under contract with the UFC) to have a multi-million dollar boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. A fight that reportedly put $30 million in McGregor’s pocket. This was 10 times the amount McGregor made in the UFC, which was still the highest for a single bout. However, his next fight could be with congress itself, using his powers of influence to change the sport for the better.

Olivier Aubin-Mercier Wants GSP to Call Out Conor McGregor

Justin Golightly - September 20, 2017

Everyone knows Georges St-Pierre touched down back into the UFC to challenge for the middleweight title against Michael Bisping. He’s gone on record saying that if he wins, he’s contractually obligated to defend against interim champ Robert Whittaker. If he loses, St-Pierre has said he will retire. Win or lose, his teammate Olivier Aubin-Mercier thinks that GSP should call out none-other than Conor McGregor for the biggest UFC fight of all time. “To tell you the truth, I would not [keep fighting], but Georges [St-Pierre] is truly a real fighter, a real warrior, a real inspiration. He may fight again, I’m not sure. I think what would be plausible is to call out Conor [McGregor] after [the fight with Michael Bisping]. That’s what I would do. Call out Conor. I think for the UFC, it’s a really smart fight to do too, since it’s a win-win of them. A win-win kind of, for the short time. If Georges wins, well, he’s the greatest fighter of all time. If Conor wins, he is too. And if GSP wins, I don’t think people would hold it against Conor.”

Braun Strowman Warns Conor McGregor if He Has WWE Aspirations

Justin Golightly - September 20, 2017

When you’re Conor McGregor, the world is your oyster. But sometimes, diving for oysters is dangerous. Sometimes, there are monsters in the deep. All this is just a convoluted analogy for the WWE’s monster-among-monsters, Braun Strowman. He was recently asked about McGregor in an interview ahead of his beastly battle this Sunday with Brock Lesnar, and doesn’t think the UFC lightweight champion wants anything to do with him. https://twitter.com/BraunStrowman/status/882087532539781120

Over the weekend, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and “GGG” Gennady Golovkin finally stepped into the boxing ring together, battling to a controversial split draw. Unsurprisingly, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was a common talking point.

Kevin Lee Trashes 'B*tch' McGregor and Gives Props to Tony Ferguson

Justin Golightly - September 16, 2017

After multiple failed attempts to make an interim title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee are going to fight for the interim UFC lightweight belt on October 4th. Meanwhile, Conor McGregor gallavants on yachts reaping the spoils from his multi-multi-million dollar fight with Floyd Mayweather. Not bad for a guy who lost the fight, huh? Kevin Lee didn’t seem impressed with McGregor’s performance, but holds Ferguson in a high regard for the scraps that he’s put down inside the Octagon. “I knew [Floyd] Mayweather was going to beat Conor [McGregor] because Conor’s a quitter. Conor quit during that fight. That’s the thing about fighting, you can’t hide who you really are. If you a b-tch it’s gonna’ show and this is not the first time. It showed in his first Nate Diaz fight. It showed again in the second Nate Diaz fight and it showed versus Mayweather. When you’re slapping around and kind of signaling to the refs that you tired. That’s him wanting to quit. That’s him wanting out. You’ll never see Tony Ferguson like that. Tony Ferguson went to war with [Rafael] dos Anjos for five rounds in Mexico City at altitude. Of course he’s tired, but he’s not going to show it like that.”

Total Gross of Mayweather vs McGregor Could Make it the 'Biggest Event of Its Kind'

Justin Golightly - September 15, 2017

Even though the numbers from Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather’s boxing match didn’t reach as high as Dana White predicted, everyone walked away with a ridiculous amount of money. The tattooed Irishman is Vince McMahon-strutting around Ibiza, meanwhile Mayweather is building a strip club empire. The event even broke its first record earlier this month, but it looks like it may be on track for another big one. According to Dave Meltzer, it could be the biggest of its kind in all of sports history. “When we look at total revenue the show produced, it should be about $445 million from PPV (Cable providers and satellite providers would get 30 percent of the PPV money but the iPPV money would go to the promotion at a much higher percentage), the live gate was $55 million, the U.K. and Ireland PPV is probably about $28 million, international TV rights were estimated at $35 million, $28 million were estimated in sponsorships, $2.6 million in U.S. movie theaters and $15 million from bars and Restaurant airings. There is also a Las Vegas area closed circuit number that is not yet available but should be in about a week, but going in the estimate for that would have been $7 million.”

Daniel Cormier Says McGregor's Trilogy Fight with Nate Diaz 'Has to Happen'

Justin Golightly - September 15, 2017

After dipping his toes into boxing and making millions, Conor McGregor is expected to return to fight inside the Octagon once again. The thing about McGregor though, is that he’s unpredictable. Of course, he could change his mind and keep boxing, or just shrug it all off and stay in Ibiza admiring gigantic boats. What is predictable, is how big a third fight with Nate Diaz could be. Daniel Cormier is the latest to weigh-in on the match-up and thinks that it’s something the UFC needs to make happen. https://twitter.com/UFCONFOX/status/908486982191288321

Justin Gaethje Thinks Conor McGregor Gasses Because a Lack of Wrestling

Justin Golightly - September 12, 2017

There’s a new force in the UFC’s lightweight division. As stacked as that weight class is, that’s like adding a piranha into a pool of sharks. Justin Gaethje left his World Series of Fighting lightweight title behind and crashed into the UFC with a huge victory over Michael Johnson, pushing him into the top five in the rankings. He’s excited to get punched in the face by Eddie Alvarez, hoping to lure Conor McGregor into a title shot. Getting past Alvarez is a tall task, but Gaethje will look to exploit what he thinks is McGregor’s weakest point at some point in the future: His cardio. “The reason [Conor McGregor] can’t fight through when he gets super tired is he’s never grappled. You have to learn how to fight through when it sucks and it’s really hard. You have to be in that position over and over and over, to be able to perform in that mindset. The fact that he’s never wrestled or grappled, it doesn’t help when he gets super tired and starts questioning himself.”
