UFC bantamweight prospect Cameron Smotherman was at the center of one of the promotion’s scariest weigh-in moments ahead of UFC 324.

UFC 324 is hours away as the first card of 2026 is upon us. In the UFC 324 main event, lightweight contenders Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett will battle it out for the interim lightweight championship amidst Ilia Topuria’s indefinite hiatus.

UFC 324, top-to-bottom, promises nonstop action at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. But just hours before the action, UFC fight fans, pundits, and fellow fighters universally gasped as a scary moment played out at the official weigh-ins on Friday.

UFC bantamweights Cameron Smotherman and Ricky Turcios were set to square off in an intriguing matchup on the UFC 324 undercard. Smotherman, a Dana White’s Contender Series alum, was looking to snap a two-fight skid against the former The Ultimate Fighter winner Turcios.

As Smotherman appeared at Friday morning’s official weigh-in, he looked drained and emaciated as he walked onto the scale. While Smotherman successfully made weight (135.5 lbs), he fainted as he walked off the stage in a horrific moment.

The UFC quickly removed the Smotherman vs. Turcios fight from the card, and the matchup could be postponed to a later date. As of this writing, the UFC hasn’t provided an update on Smotherman’s health and well-being.

Smotherman’s weigh-in is the latest in a series of scary scale appearances in recent years. UFC women’s bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison, who was supposed to fight this weekend against Amanda Nunes before withdrawing due to injury, has had several concerning appearances while successfully weighing in at bantamweight.

Former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and contender Alex Perez both missed weight at the UFC 324 official weigh-in.
