UFC made the right call passing on Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano, says Daniel Cormier: “That’s just me being 1,000 percent truthful”

Daniel Cormier thinks the UFC brass ultimately made the right decision to not give massive payouts to Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano.
Rousey and Carano mixed it up for all of 17 seconds in their comeback fight to cap off MVP MMA 1 this past weekend. “Rowdy” quickly scored a takedown and secured the submission finish after applying her signature armbar. It was another fast victory in the Hall of Fame career of Rousey.
While the spectacle was there for Rousey vs. Carano, Cormier is sticking up for his bosses. In a new video on his YouTube channel, Cormier explained why he feels UFC was right in their decision to decline promoting the fight (via MMAJunkie).
“If I’m Hunter Campbell, who has been getting beat up in the media because he didn’t want to make this fight, I don’t know that last night did anything to say that he made the wrong decision because of the way that it ended, and that’s just me being 1,000 percent truthful,” Cormier said.
“Had you had a great fight, maybe people may have questioned Hunter’s decision. But again, Hunter has made good decisions time and time again, and I believe that last night showed that he made another one by not paying a boat load of money to make that event.”
In the buildup to her return to the cage, Rousey blasted Campbell several times. She didn’t have any negative words for UFC CEO Dana White, who sent her a text message hours prior to her win over Carano. Rousey said White wished both her and Carano good luck. “Rowdy” remains at odds with UFC as a whole.
