REPORT | Ilia Topuria’s injuries following UFC White House loss revealed

Ilia Topuria suffered a stunning stoppage loss to Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC White House to lose his lightweight title.
Topuria was defending his belt for the first time and entered the bout as a sizable favorite. Early on, Topuria had success as he looked like he was on his way to finishing Gaethje in the second round. However, Gaethje was able to survive and then took over and dominated Topuria, as he battered him en route to a corner stoppage after the fourth round.
After the loss, Topuria was transported to a hospital, and his injuries have now been revealed, as Spanish MMA reporter Irati Prat for Marca revealed he suffered a broken orbital bone, but won’t need surgery.
“Good news from Washington: Ilia Topuria is doing well. He’s taking some rest,” Prat wrote on X. “Update on this: pending the definitive results of the CT scan performed at the Washington hospital where he spent the night, Ilia does have a small orbital fracture, but there is NO need whatsoever for surgery. Rest time and that’s it. That’s what they’ve relayed to me.”
Luckily, it appears that Ilia Topuria avoided major injuries but will need time off to rest and heal up after all the damage he took.
Ilia Topuria breaks silence after UFC White House loss
After the stunning loss, Ilia Topuria took to Instagram to break his silence on the loss and vowed to come back stronger.
“Justin, congratulations. You said you’d leave your mark on my face… and you did. You took the sight from my right eye in the first round, and by the end of the second, from my left too,” Topuria wrote. “No excuses. I had one of the best camps of my life. I came in sharp, prepared, and ready. Last night was your night.
“That’s the nature of this game. Glory and pain walk side by side. I’ll heal. I’ll rest. And I’ll return stronger, wiser, and far more dangerous. And trust me… this story between us is far from over. We will have our rematch.”
With the loss, Topuria fell to 17-1 as a pro and lost his lightweight title in his first attempt at defending it.
