Ilia Topuria’s old social media post haunts him after Paddy Pimblett’s roast following UFC Freedom 250: “Little pretender chorizo”

A social media post earlier this year has come back to bite Ilia Topuria.

About six months prior to UFC Freedom 250, Topuria slammed Paddy Pimblett for dropping a unanimous decision to Justin Gaethje. Had Pimblett won the fight, he would’ve set himself up for a lightweight title unification bout against Topuria. Instead, Gaethje battered “The Baddy,” who was able to survive until the final horn.

“Little sausage, the only thing you had to do was beat a 38 year old guy,” Topuria wrote. “You just lost the biggest paycheck of your life. You were going to get rich if you won. Justin, all I can say is congratulations… and I’d like to tell you to get ready, but you’re screwed no matter what.”

Fast forward to UFC Freedom 250 this past Sunday, and it was Topuria who ended up suffering defeat at the hands of Gaethje. “El Matador” lost the UFC Lightweight Championship after failing to get up from his stool before the fifth round.

Never one to hold his tongue, Pimblett roasted Topuria right back on X after he failed to deliver on his promise of a first-round KO win over Gaethje.

“The only thing you had to do was beat a 38 year old coming off of a 5 round war with me… instead you quit on your stool like the little [expletive] you are. I’m a real fighter and went 5 rounds your a little pretender chorizo! Congratulation @Justin_Gaethje, rematch for undisputed?”

UFC CEO Dana White told reporters that he can’t confirm if Topuria suffered a broken orbital bone against Gaethje, but that is what he’s assuming the damage was. That means it could a while before Topuria is back inside the Octagon, but White said that the former UFC Lightweight Champion’s recovery is the top priority.
