Tonight’s UFC Freedom 250 event was co-headlined by an interim heavyweight title fight between Ciryl Gane and Alex Pereira.

Gane (14-2 MMA) was competing for the first time since his no-contest with reigning heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall last October at UFC 321. Prior to that controversial bout, the Frenchman had earned victories over Alexander Volkov and Serghei Spivac respectively.

Meanwhile, Alex Pereira (13-4 MMA) had most previously competed at UFC 320, where he scored a first-round TKO victory over Magomed Ankalaev to reclaim the promotion‘s light heavyweight title. ‘Poatan’ had gone 4-1 over his past five fights overall prior to this evening’s affair.

Tonight’s UFC Freedom 250 co-main event resulted in a coming out party for Ciryl Gane. The Frenchman was able to get the better of ‘Poatan’ right from the opening bell, easily winning the opening round. Then, in round two, ‘Bon Gamin’ landed a big jab followed by a combination that sent Pereira crashing to the floor. While Alex was able to get back to his feet, it only resulted in further punishment as Gane landed some huge shots which prompted the referee to step in and stop the fight.
