Phil Baroni vs. Karo Parisyan official for Bellator 122

By Chris Taylor - June 17, 2014

We reported a couple of weeks ago that a welterweight bout between MMA veterans Phil Baroni and Karo Parisyan was in the works for July’s Bellator 122 event in Temecula, California.

Today, that bout became official, as Bellator executives announced that “NYBA” and “The Heat” will meet on the main card of Bellator 122.

Phil Baroni was last seen in action over a year ago at May 2013’s “ONE FC: Rise to Power” event, where he suffered a gruesome leg injury in his bout with current ONE FC welterweight world champion Nobutatsu Suzuki. The result of the injury was a dislocated ankle and broken fibula. After months of rehab and recovery, the “New York Bad Ass” is back to full health and excited to return to the cage. Baroni’s latest victory came over Rodrigo Ribeiro, whom he defeated via TKO (Soccer kicks and Punches) at August 2012’s “ONE FC: Pride of a Nation” event in Manila.

Meanwhile, Karo Parisyan most recently fought at April’s Bellator 116 event, where he earned a second-round knockout victory over Ron Keslar. Prior to his win over Keslar, “The Heat” was coming off a second-round KO loss to opponent Rick Hawn at Bellator 95. After being released by the UFC in November of 2010, Parisyan has since gone 4-4 in MMA.

Bellator 122 takes place Friday July 25 live Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California. The event is headlined by the Bellator middleweight tournament final featuring Brett Cooper taking on Brandon Halsey.
