Turki Alalshikh has revealed the design for a brand new undisputed world heavyweight championship belt ahead of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk

Initially, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk were scheduled to square off later this month to determine the one and only undisputed heavyweight boxing champion. Unfortunately, that’ll no longer happen. As a result of a nasty cut sustained by Fury in training, their collision will now take place on May 18.

While this is disappointing, the higher-ups in Saudi Arabia are still expecting this event to bring in some big business. They’ve made a real push to become a mainstay in combat sports and this serves as the latest chapter in that journey.

Now, courtesy of Turki Alalshikh, we have a glimpse of the newly-created undisputed title that the winner of Fury vs Usyk will claim.

Fury and Usyk set to battle for new belt

“This belt will wait for Fury or Usyk … made specifically for this fight … for the first time 4 belts undisputed in the same fight … fight of the century… Ring of Fire 18th of May.”

Of course, many in the mixed martial arts community will be familiar with the concept of having one belt instead of four. All major MMA promotions have one belt per weight class, whereas in boxing, that simply isn’t the case.

Either way, it’s bound to be a divisive design, but we’re more excited to see who will be the one holding it up high later this year.

What do you think of the design for this undisputed heavyweight championship belt? Who do you believe is more likely to walk away with it – Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk? Let us know your thoughts on this, BJPENN Nation!
