October 30, 2016 3:52 pm by Chris Taylor

This fight is a classic and is responsible for changing the landscape of kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA in North America.

In the above video, undefeated kickboxer Rick Roufus squares off with Muay Thai specialist Changpuek Kiatsongrit.

At the time of the contest, Rick Roufus sported an undefeated record of 28-0.

The rules were as follows: No elbows, clinch equals an immediate reset, throws are not allowed.

This was the first American Kickboxing vs. Muay Thai bout to be televised to a large audience. It was also one of the first contests which allowed low-kicks, something that was not legal in “American Kickboxing”.
