VIDEO | Cecilia Braekhus: “Holm can not knock anybody out with one punch”

“Holly Holm can not knock anybody out with one punch… In boxing, she was wearing them down, throwing a lot of punches but she doesn’t have that one punch knockout. So, I told Cyborg, ‘do not underestimate her but that is something you may not have to be too concerned about.’. Of course, do not underestimate her because she is a great mover and she has a lot of ring intelligence. Also, beware of the southpaw, do a lot of sparring with southpaw as she is doing right now and always remember to try to lean more to the left instead of the right. Going to the right you can run into one of her strong weapons, which is her right. So think a little bit about that and I think she’s going to beat Holm. ”

Cecila Braekhus is to women’s boxing what Demetrious Johnson is to MMA…the very clear P4P best in the world. She holds a 32-0 professional boxing record and has been the Welterweight(140 lbs in boxing) champion since 2014. Braekhus also happens to be the very first women ever, among all weight classes, to obtain the WBC, WBO, WBA and IBF titles simultaneously. That crazy accomplishment also makes her one of only four boxers in history to do so with four title like that. The others include Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor, and Terence Crawford. So it’s safe to say she knows a thing or two about boxing…

Since Cris Cyborg’s opponent at UFC 219, Holly Holm is a former world boxing champion herself, Cyborg is always looking to improve and despite Cyborg talking about wanting to fight Braekhus in the past, the two have trained together during her camp leading up to the big fight.

UFC 219 takes place next Saturday, December 30 and it will be Cyborg’s first UFC Featherweight title defense.
