Holly Holm doubts Ronda Rousey rematch ever happens, but leaves door open: “I’d always be open to fight her again”

Holly Holm wouldn’t mind sharing the cage with Ronda Rousey again, but she doubts it will happen.
Holm and Rousey fought back in Nov. 2015 and the result left MMA fans stunned at the time. Holm handed “Rowdy” her first pro MMA loss with a brutal second-round knockout to capture the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. Holm was a massive betting underdog for the fight.
Rousey ended up suffering a 48-second TKO loss to Amanda Nunes the following year, and she ultimately decided to retire from prizefighting. Rousey recently had a successful comeback fight against Gina Carano, earning a 17-second submission victory.
Most Valuable Promotions promoted Rousey vs. Carano, and MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian has expressed interest in booking the rematch between “Rowdy” and Holm. During an interview with MMAFighting.com, “The Preacher’s Daughter” didn’t sound too optimistic about the chances of a rematch taking place.
“Yes, a lot of talk with the Ronda fight,” Holm said. “I highly doubt she’ll ever want a rematch. I always have said since the minute the last fight was over, I’ll always rematch her. That’s always been available.
“But she wanted to come back and have this win and go back and enjoy and have a win like that. No hate from me. I hope she does well. I hope she does whatever she wants with her life. That’s her life. I’d always be open to fight her again.”
Holm went on to say that she didn’t want to judge how quickly Carano lost because Rousey was winning fights in similar fashion during her prime. Holm also said she’s always respected Rousey and doesn’t have anything negative to say about her.
