Tony Ferguson receives new opponent for ‘UFC FN: Sioux Falls’

After Michael Chiesa withdrew from his July 13th scrap against #3 ranked lightweight Tony Ferguson, there was much speculation as to who the UFC would select as a fill-in opponent for ‘El Cucuy’ on such short notice. While many hoped #1 ranked Khabib Nurmagomedov would step up, ‘The Eagle’ is currently on the sidelines while celebrating Ramadan.

Tuesday afternoon, Sherdog revealed that Ferguson would be facing 8-0 UFC newcomer Landon Vannata, who trains at the Jackson-Wink MMA Academy.

Vannata has finished all but one of his fights, and will certainly be the underdog as he faces Tony Ferguson, who is riding a 7-fight win streak.

The bout has been moved to the co-main event, while John Lineker vs. Michael McDonald now serves as the main event.

Do you think Vannata will be able to pull off the upset and defeat Ferguson?
