Rory MacDonald vs. Stephen Thompson statistical breakdown

By Chris Taylor - June 12, 2016

A key welterweight fight between top contenders Rory MacDonald (18-3 MMA) and Stephen Thompson (12-1 MMA) will headline next weekend’s UFC Fight Night event in Ottawa.

Here is a statistical comparison of the two fighters competing in next weekend’s main event (via @Fightnomics):

Thompson is currently riding an impressive six-fight win streak, with four of those six victories coming by way of knockout. “Wonderboy’s” latest effort saw him score a first-round TKO victory over former champ Johny Hendricks at UFC Fight Night 82.

Meanwhile, Rory MacDonald will compete for the first time since his “Fight of the year” performance against Robbie Lawler at UFC 189 last July. The “Red King” lost that title fight to “Ruthless” via fifth-round TKO but it didn’t effect his stock. The Canadian has gone 8-2 in his past 10 appearances, with both losses coming at the hands of Lawler.
