Jose Aldo opens up on why he turned down fight with Conor McGregor

It was the fight Jose Aldo has been having dreams of ever since he lost at UFC 194 back in December. However, with less than two weeks given for an opportunity to rematch Conor McGregor, Aldo turned down the fight when McGregor’s originally scheduled opponent Rafael dos Anjos pulled out due to an injury and spoke on the MMA Hour about his decision. “Any professional needs time to train,” Aldo said (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “It’s not a cockfight where I go there and put my rooster to fight. It’s a high-level sport, I’m going there to do my job. When I have time to train, it can happen at any time, anywhere.”

According to a source close to the situation MMA Pioneer Mikey Burnett and his son Freddie were shot in a busy parking lot near 31st and Garnett in Tulsa, OK. Police say it was a botched robbery. Freddie was shot once in the leg and Mikey was shot three times in the abdomen.

UFC veteran Nate Diaz has stepped up on short notice to fight UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor on March 5th at UFC 196. Diaz was selected by the UFC after lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos pulled out of the fight with McGregor with an injury. Interestingly, former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis spoke on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani about his fight with Diaz that fell through.

McGregor’s new opponent Nate Diaz seems to have fans more excited about the UFC 196 match taking place on March 5th. With the excitement surrounding the fight with his new opponent in Diaz, McGregor is surely seeing the dollar signs falling from the sky for UFC 196. McGregor recently posted a photo with his “angel” and it will be likely we will see “The Notorious” add more luxury automobiles to his collection.
