Going into UFC 196, many fans surprisingly didn’t give Nate Diaz much of a chance against Conor McGregor. While Diaz stepped in on less than 2 weeks notice, the Diaz brothers are known for staying in incredible shape. As everyone knows by now, Nate Diaz rocked and then submitted Conor McGregor in the second round of their welterweight scrap. With a potential rematch at UFC 200 allegedly in the works, Nate Diaz likely won’t have as many fans picking against him this time around.

With MMA being legalized in New York earlier this week, Conor McGregor’s striking coach, Owen Roddy, believes that a fight between McGregor and Edgar could be huge for the UFC’s inaugural event at the famed Madison Square Garden.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor had a long list of opponents ready to fight him after the lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos pulled out of their bout due to an injury. McGregor ended up taking on more than he could handle when he ended up fighting Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 196 in a non-title welterweight bout. Diaz was able to secure a rear-naked choke submitting McGregor in the second round. Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was one opponent that was game and ready to step in as a late replacement for the injured UFC lightweight champion but didn’t get the opportunity to showcase what he had for “The Notorious.”

After Michael Bisping’s controversial fight with former middleweight champion Anderson Silva, Nick Diaz posted a meme throwing an insult at “The Count.” Bisping took to twitter to respond to the elder Diaz brother and added to it by throwing an insult at the younger Diaz who was had a fight with UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor the following week saying, “I’d of thought @nickdiaz209 would be more concerned about the beating his bro is gonna get next week, rather than looking for his own.”

At Wednesday’s NSAC hearing, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier expressed his concern over Herb Dean being the referee for his UFC 197 light heavyweight title fight with Jon Jones on April 23rd. Cormier explained that in the pair’s first meeting at UFC 182, Dean allowed the pair to remain clinched for what DC believed was an extended period of time. After Cormier voiced his concerns over Dean being the referee, the NSAC ultimately decided to leave Dean as the referee.

As we get closer and closer to Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier II on April 23rd, where Jon Jones will look to reclaim the UFC light heavyweight championship belt he never lost inside the Octagon, Daniel Cormier has a concern regarding Herb Dean being the referee for the bout. Back at UFC 182, the pair had their first meeting where Jones dominated Cormier from the first bell to the last. Despite that, Cormier believes that there were several times where referee Herb Dean allowed Jones to clinch Cormier for an extended period of time, something DC appears worried about going into their UFC 197 scrap on April 23rd.
