UFC 198 Results: Sergio Moraes and Luan Chagas fight to a draw

A welterweight tilt between Sergio Moraes (10-2-1 MMA) and Luan Chagas (14-1-1 MMA) served as the second bout of tonight’s UFC 198 fight card in Curitiba, Brazil. Round one begins and Chagas charges forward with a flurry of punches. He follows up with a body kick on Moraes. Sergio throws a wild right hand that misses. Chagas with a heavy leg kick that lands flush. He narrowly misses with a spinning back kick. Chagas with a quick jab and then a nice kick to the body. Another good leg kick by Chagas. Sergio Moraes replies with a leg kick of his own. Moraes lands a nice uppercut. Chagas continues to press forward. He lands a big inside leg kick on Sergio. Moraes misses with a wild right hand but lands a good follow up leg kick. Huge head kick lands for Chagas that drops Sergio. Chagas tells him to get back up. Moraes returns to his feet and seems to be ok. Straight left hand drops Moraes again. Chagas tells him to stand back up. Chagas finishes the opening round by landing a nice right hand.
UFC 198 Results: Renato Moicano defeats Zubaira Tukhugov via split-decision

A featherweight bout between Renato Moicano (10-0-1 MMA) and Zubaira Tukhugov (18-4 MMA) kicked off tonight’s UFC 198 card in Curitiba, Brazil. Round one begins and Renato throws a body kick that misses. Tukhugov is switching stances and comes in with a right. Good low kicks from Renato. Tukhugov charges forward with a left hand. The Brazilian lands a nice counter right hand. Tukhugov misses with a high kick but connects with a follow up side kick. Renato with a quick jab. He lands a nice leg kick but Tukhugov shoots in and lands a takedown. Moicano is utilizing the rubber guard technique from his back. He is trying to setup a triangle choke but Tukhugov pulls out and stands back up. Tukhugov tries to leap in to half guard but after a scramble Renato is on his back. Tukhugov is able to roll out of the position as round one comes to and end.

While Cris Cyborg hasn’t made her UFC debut just yet, the Invicta FC champion has her eyes set on a major fight after her UFC 198 scrap with Leslie Smith tonight. The fight is a catchweight bout at 140 pounds, however Cyborg could very well go back up to featherweight after the bout despite the UFC not having a women’s featherweight division.

While Conor McGregor has been sidelined ahead of UFC 200, where he was originally slated to fight Nate Diaz in a highly anticipated rematch, that hasn’t prevented McGregor from keeping his name in the headlines. Although highly unlikely, a potential boxing match between McGregor and famed prizefighter Floyd Mayweather has been rumored for several weeks now, with Mayweather even going as far as to predict that the fight will “absolutely” happen. While Mayweather has praised McGregor’s striking skills, the fight would undoubtably be the toughest test of McGregor’s combat sports career.

After Aldo was KOd stiff in just 13 seconds at UFC 194, where he lost his featherweight championship, he stated that he would fight McGregor anytime and anywhere, even if it wasn’t for the belt.

Another UFC fighter has been flagged by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). Lightweight Carlos Diego Ferreira was flagged by USADA and has been pulled from his scheduled UFC Fight Night 88 bout versus Abel Trujillo. UFC Fight Night 88 is scheduled to take place on May 29.
