UFC welterweight contender Matt Brown suffered a third-round submission loss to Demian Maia in the headlining bout of yesterday’s UFC 198 prelims in Curitiba, Brazil. During his walkout to the octagon, Brown was grabbed and hit by fans in attendance which understandably caused him to get angry.

UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum (20-6-1 MMA) put his belt on the line for the first time tonight in the main event of UFC 198 when he squared off with top contender Stipe Miocic (15-2 MMA) in his hometown of Curitiba, Brazil. Round one begins and Miocic opens with a leg kick. Werdum responds with a leg kick of his own. Fabricio with a front kick to the body. Nice elbow lands for Stipe. Good low kick from Werdum and another. He presses forward and lands a left hand on Miocic. Stipe with a couple of leg kicks. Werdum with a nice combination. Miocic replies with a leg kick. Werdum grabs a hold of a leg but cannot secure the takedown. Miocic with a nice right hand. Werdum with two good leg kicks. Stipe with a nice short uppercut. Good right hand from Werdum. He lands another. Miocic with a huge counter right that floors Werdum. It is all over.

Round one begins and “Shogun” misses with a leaping right hand. Good kick from Rua. Nice jab from Anderson but “Shogun” replies with a big leg kick. Nice uppercut from Rua. Anderson with a couple of nice jabs. Nice overhand right from Rua. Anderson with a flying knee but Rua catches him with a right hand. Anderson presses Rua against the fence and lands a nice right hand as they break. “Shogun” with a leg kick. Corey with a stiff jab. Nice left hook from Rua. Anderson with a nice shot that lands. Rua with a leg kick. Good left hand and then a leg kick by Anderson. More shots from Corey. He lands a stiff jab on Rua. “shogun” with a left hand that drops Anderson. He rushes in with huge hammer fists but the horn sounds before he can finish Corey off.
