UFC Fight Night 93 Results: Josh Barnett submits Andrei Arlovski

Two former UFC heavyweight champions squared off in the main event of UFC Fight Night 93 as Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett went to war in Hamburg, Germany. Round one begins and Barnett presses forward and lands an uppercut that staggers Arlovski. Josh rushes in but eats a shot from Andrei that puts Barnett on wobbly legs. Another right hand from Barnett has Arlovski rocked as he drops to one knee. He stands up and the fighters clinch up in an attempt to gather their senses. Barnett pushes Andrei against the cage and lands some foot stomps. Josh with a nice knee inside. Arlovski scores a trip and winds up in top position. He is working from half guard. Andrei stands up and delivers some standing shots to his grounded opponent. Arlovski has a big cut on the top of his forehead. He is bleeding pretty badly. The referee steps in and tells Josh to stand up. Arlovski lands a big right hand and then a follow up combination. Josh smiles and tags him with a left hand. Josh shoots in and drives Arlovski up against the fence. Round one comes to an end.

As the head coach of Irish superstar Conor McGregor’s, John Kavanagh is tasked with game-planning and training for a fighter who is known to take risks. The Irishman rolled the dice once more and really shook up his preparation for the rematch with Nate Diaz, coach Kavanagh revealed. McGregor spent $300,000 on fight camp leading into his decision victory over Diaz at UFC 202, but not a penny of it appears to have been wasted. The ‘Notorious’ evened the score with Diaz, who had defeated the Irishman by submission back at UFC 196.

UFC Fight Night 93 Results: Alexander Gustafsson defeats Jan Blachowicz

A key light heavyweight bout between former title challenger Alexander Gustafsson and Jan Blachowicz served as the co-main event of today’s UFC Fight Night 93 event in Hamburg, Germany. Round one begins and Blachowicz comes forward with a combo. Gus repsonds with a left hand followed by a legkick. Jan comes forward with punches and one definitely gets through. Alexander has a mark underneath his right eye. Gus ducks under a punch and presses Jan against the cage. Jan breaks free and lands another nice combination lands from Blachowicz. Alex charges forward and pushes Jan against the cage. Knees inside from Gus. Blachowicz breaks free. He lands a stiff jab to the face of Alex. Gustafsson comes forward but eats a knee and then an uppercut. Alexander’s face is busted up. Jan with another nice combination. Gustafsson gets inside and lands a trip. He begins working from the full guard of Blachowicz. One minute remains in the opening round. Jan is looking for an armbar but eats a big elbow. Another good elbow lands for Gus. Round one comes to an end.

A lightweight bout between Nick Hein and Tae Hyun Bang kicked off today’s UFC Fight Night 93 main card in Hamburg, Germany. Round one begins and there is a bit of a feeling out process. Bang lands a leg kick to start. The Korean fighter misses with a follow up head kick. Hein attempts a high kick but it misses. He connects with a left hand. Bang presses forward with a combination and lands a right. Hein scores with a beautiful right hand as Bang was coming in and uses the shot to score a takedown. He moves immediately to half guard. Bang scrambles and gets back to his feet. The Korean lands a nice right hands and then a kick to the body. Hein misses with an attempted left hook. Bang presses forward with punches but fails to connect. Round one comes to an end after Hein connects with a body kick.

UFC Fight Night 93 Results: Jessin Ayari defeats Jim Wallhead via split-decision

A welterweight bout between Jessin Ayari and Jim Wallhead capped off the prelims of today’s UFC Fight Night 93 event in Hamburg, Germany. Round one begins and Wallhead misses with a leg kick to start. Jessin replies with a leg kick of his own followed by a body kick that misses. Ayari lands a big kick to the body of Jimmy. Wallhead responds with a leg kick. Both men miss with right hooks. Ayari with a front kick to the body. Jim lands a nice straight left hand. He shoots in a presses Ayari against the fence. Jessin is able to break free and quickly takes the center of the cage. Jim is applying some serious pressure now. Ayari is circling away but lands a nice counter right. A big kick and then a glancing shot that causes Ayari to slip. Jessin quickly gets back to his feet and moves away from the forward pressure of his opponent. Jim scores with a leg kick and then a nice right hand. Both fighters trade kicks. Round one comes to an end.

UFC Fight Night 93 Results: Peter Sobotta defeats Nicolas Dalby

A welterweight scrap between Peter Sobotta and Nicolas Dalby took place at today’s UFC Fight Night 93 event in Hamburg, Germany. Round one begins and Dalby opens things up with a leg kick. Sobotta replies with a big shot that drops Dalby. Peter quickly pounces on him and begins working some ground and pound. Big punches and elbows from Sobotta. Dalby is bleeding. Nice short elbows and a big hammer fist score for Sobotta. Dalby scrambles but gives up his back. Sobotta quickly locks in a body triangle. He is looking for a rear-naked choke submission. He locks in the choke but Dalby is able to break fight it off. Round one comes to an end.

UFC Fight Night 93 Results: Taylor Lapilus defeats Leandro Issa

A bantamweight scrap between Leandro Issa and Taylor Lapilus took place on the preliminary portion of tonight’s UFC Fight Night 93 card in Hamburg, Germany. Round one begins and Issa lands a jab as Taylor presses in wildly. Lapilus comes forward with more strikes but Issa grabs a hold of his body and drags him to the floor. Taylor does a good job of working his way to cage and stands back up. Issa won’t give up on the body lock so Lapilus decides to work some short elbows while presses against the cage. Issa is relentless in working for a takedown here. He currently has a single leg locked up but Taylor is defending well. The referee sends a warning to the fighters to work. Lapilus lands some short punches. Issa keeps the French fighter presses against the cage. Taylor is finally able to break free and begins working some big strikes. He is teeing off on Issa here. Leandro circles away but Lapilus is chasing him down. Taylor is pawing with his right jab and then lands a big left hand. Issa shoots in for another takedown but round one comes to an end.

UFC Fight Night 93 Results: Jarjis Danho and Christian Colombo battle to a majority draw

A heavyweight bout between Jarjis Danho and Christian Colombo served as the third bout of today’s UFC Fight Night 93 event in Hamburg, Germany. Round one begins and Danho presses forward with a big overhand right that misses. He quickly grabs a hold of Colombo and tries to drag the big man to the floor. Christian uses a knee inside to shake Danho off of him. Jarjis misses with another big right but lands a shot to the body. Colombo is pawing with his jab trying to find his range. Danho lands a big right hand and presses forward. Colombo responds with a knee. Christian lands a nice right hand and another knee. Danho retreats and Colombo takes the center of the cage. Christian misses with a right hand and the fighters clinch against the cage. Colombo with some good knees inside. Danho retreats and Colombo chases after him with punches. Jarjis circles away and then presses forward with punches in bunches. Danho eats a big knee from Colombo but his hand was on the floor so the referee steps in to stop the action. The ref deducts a point from Colombo and we get back to action. Colombo misses with a front kick and Danho tosses a right hand as round one comes to an end.

Last month, fight fans tuned in for the highly anticipated rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. McGregor was stepping into the Octagon in hopes of avenging his March 5th loss to Diaz in the main event of UFC 196. In the pair’s first fight, Diaz stepped in on just 2 weeks notice for Rafael dos Anjos, who withdrew from the fight with a broken foot. Diaz shocked the world as he rocked McGregor in the 2nd round, and then submitted him with a rear naked choke.

A fight between middleweights Scott Askham and Jack Hermansson served as the second bout of UFC Hamburg. Round one begins and Hermansson lands back-to-back leg kicks to start. Askham lands a kick to the body. Scott has take control of the center of the octagon but Jack is circling well and countering with kicks. Askham lands a nice left jab. He follows that up with a strong shot to the body of Jack. Hermansson replies with a kick and then shoots in for a takedown. He doesn’t get Askham to the floor but has him pressed against the cage. The fighters break and Askham lands a nice uppercut. Jack answers with a solid leg kick. Askham presses Jack against the cage and begins working some knees. The fighters break and round one comes to an end.

UFC Fight Night 93 Results: Rustam Khabilov defeats Leandro Silva via decision

A lightweight bout between Rustam Khabilov (20-3 MMA) and Leandro Silva (19-4-1 MMA) kicked off today’s UFC Fight Night 93 event in Hamburg, Germany. Round one begins and Khabilov starts things off with a front kick. Silva throws a left kick to the body of Rustam that connects. Khabilov is applying the pressure now. Silva is using footwork to keep his  distance. The Russian misses with a big overhand right. Khabilov connects with back-to-back legs kicks. Khabilov shoots in for a takedown but it is not there. Rustam shoots in again but Silva stuffs the attempt. Silva presses forward and lands a big left hand. Khabilov is rocked. Silva presses in  and scores a takedown and moves immediately to mount. He attempts an armbar but Rustam escapes and winds up on top. Some shots from the top by Khabilov to end round one.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has been on an indefinite hiatus from the Octagon since being brutally knocked out at the hands of Holly Holm in the main event of UFC 193 back in November. While Rousey was initially expected to film several movies in Hollywood, and then return to the Octagon, the former champ’s return has been continuously pushed back as her film schedule gets more and more time consuming.
