CM Punk Says He Weighs More Than 200lbs Just 10 Days Out from fight night
Tom Taylor - September 2, 2016
Even the most experienced fighters occasionally run into problems while cutting weight. Given this, it should come as no surprise that inexperienced fighters can also have difficulty shedding the pounds. This is precisely the kind of obstacle former WWE star CM Punk is facing as he prepares for his UFC debut next Saturday: a welterweight (170 pounds) showdown with Mickey Gall.
Frankie Edgar Talks Possible Bantamweight Drop: I’ll Cut to ’35 For the Title and Take it From There
Tom Taylor - September 2, 2016
Though he remains one of the very best fighters on earth, Frankie Edgar is currently in a bit of a tough spot. After losing his lightweight title to Benson Henderson, and failing to reclaim it in a rematch with the same man, he dropped down to featherweight in search of greener pastures. Unfortunately, he would lose his first featherweight title fight against Jose Aldo, and three years later, lose a second title fight with Aldo on the main card of UFC 200. So, while no sane person would refute his status as one of the game’s best fighters, he’s suddenly a bit of a tough-sell as a title challenger at both lightweight and featherweight.

Tom Taylor - September 2, 2016
Back in 2014, during the pay-per-view portion of UFC 181, it was announced that WWE superstar CM Punk would be making the jump to MMA as a member of the UFC roster. And though it was immediately made clear that Punk had no real martial arts experience, we were led to believe that spent at least some time practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. If he did have any one strength then, it would appear to be in the grappling department.

Tom Taylor - September 2, 2016
Next weekend, former WWE superstar CM Punk will make his first foray into mixed martial arts. He’ll be taking on talented 24-year-old Mickey Gall on the main card of UFC 203. Prior to his signing with the UFC, which was announced on the main card of UFC 181 back in 2014, Punk had no real martial arts experience. Given this experiential deficit, he’s been given very little chance against Gall–who has only had 2 pro fights himself.

Unfortunately, this dual-allegiance tends to make things difficult when Sobotta has to decide which country to represent for his UFC bouts. “So this question, ‘Are you Polish or are you German?’ – I really don’t like this question, because I have two hearts,” Sobotta explained in a recent interview with The Sun. “I have this Polish side and this German side, and whatever I say, someone gets annoyed because of this.”
