Following a stunning KO victory over Travis Browne in the main event of UFC Fight Night 105 in Halifax, Canada over the weekend, “The Black Beast” told Brian Stann in the post-fight Octagon interview that he didn’t want to hear anything about fighting for the next few months. Lewis stated that with constantly being in training camp, he wasn’t the most pleasant member of the family to be around.

By the sound of things, the MMA community owes famed boxing trainer Freddie Roach a big ‘thank you!’ Earlier this month, it was announced that former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre had reached a multi-fight deal with the UFC, which the pair were close to finalizing. Shortly after, it was announced that St-Pierre had officially signed the new UFC contract, and that the UFC was currently looking to book him a fight.

Following UFC superstar Conor McGregor‘s UFC 205 win over Eddie Alvarez, where The Notorious cemented his place in the history books by claiming the UFC lightweight title as he finished the Alvarez in the second round, the ‘champ champ’ revealed that he would be taking some time off from fighting given that he and his girlfriend, Dee Devlin, were expecting the birth of their child in May. Recently however, McGregor revealed the gender of his child during his pay-per view interview, saying:

Last weekend, in the main event of the UFC’s latest trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Derrick Lewis scored a thunderous, second-round knockout over the ever-dangerous Travis Browne. With this win, which is arguably the biggest of his career, Lewis extended his win-streak to six, and established himself as a bona fide heavyweight contender. Unfortunately, Lewis’ fight with Browne also produced a small bit of controversy, as referee Mario Yamasaki was quite late in stopping the fight, which gave Lewis time to hit Browne with a few extra sledgehammers.

In just two weeks, fight fans will tune into a highly anticipated night of fights for UFC 209 on March 4th. The event will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson, in a fight which will serve as a highly anticipated rematch for the UFC welterweight championship. The first time the pair fought, the fight served as Woodley first welterweight title defense since winning the UFC welterweight championship by knocking out Robbie Lawler at UFC 201. The fight was an extremely competitive one that saw Woodley retain the welterweight championship after the judges scored the fight a majority draw.

Former WWE champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson entered the WWE ring after Monday Night Raw was recorded at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. According to Heavy.com, The Rock was in the ring to film a scene for the Fighting With My Family movie that he is producing, which features the Saraya-Jade Bevis, better known as the professional wrestler, Paige. During the filming of the scene, Paige and AJ Lee, who is married to CM Punk put on a match for the filming of the movie. When Lee’s name was mentioned, the crowd started to chant Punk’s name.

When the UFC made it’s long awaited debut in New York City in November, it only seemed logical that talented New York lightweight “Ragin'” Al Iaquinta would be a part of the card. Given this, it was no surprise when he was booked for a lightweight bout with Thiago Alves on the card’s prelims. It was a surprise, however, when Iaquinta announced that he was having a contract dispute with the UFC, and when he ultimately decided to retire from fighting and dedicate himself to a real estate career.
