Tom Taylor - July 10, 2018
News that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will get the next shot at new heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier generated backlash from a big portion of the MMA community. A giant segment of fans were immediately furious that Lesnar had been granted the opportunity, despite the fact that he hasn’t legitimately won a fight since 2010. Of all the people unhappy about Lesnar’s title shot, however, it’s arguable that none are quite as ticked as Curtis Blaydes. Blaydes, after all, could well have gotten the next heavyweight title shot had Lesnar not cut the line. Since news of Lesnar’s return was announced, Blaydes has shared his frustration on social media on several occasions.

MMA Inequity | Outside accomplishments mean nothing
Drake Riggs - July 9, 2018
Using the phrase “nobody knows who they are” is an invalid excuse when it’s the UFC’s fault for not promoting their own fighters. Especially in the case of the consensus best flyweight in the world, Jennifer Maia who makes her UFC debut this Saturday at UFC Boise.

Tom Taylor - July 9, 2018
Francis Ngannou’s UFC 220 heavyweight title fight against Stipe Miocic didn’t go the way he planned, as he was dominated to a unanimous decision loss. At UFC 226, he looked to rebound from this tough loss with a win over fellow knockout artist Derrick Lewis. Unfortunately, Ngannou’s fight with Lewis was an irrefutable stinker, as he inexplicably threw almost no punches over the course of their 15 minute fight, and lost a decision as a result.
Raphael Assuncao is ready for a bantamweight title shot
Tom Taylor - July 9, 2018
Raphael Assuncao is easily one of the best UFC fighters to never receive a UFC title shot. After his decisive UFC 226 decision win over the dangerous Rob Font, which extended his current win-streak to four-straight, he’s hoping that changes. The Brazilian bantamweight contender, who owns victories over current UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw and surging contender Marlon Moraes, is ready for his title shot. “Hopefully, it will catapult me to a title shot – which is what I want,” Assuncao told MMAjunkie shortly after his UFC 226 defeat of Font. “And I think even though it was a decision, I was able to once again showcase what I can do and change my strategy on the fly and implement what I wanted to implement in the fight.”

Speaking at the UFC 226 post-fight press conference, Lewis, who won this insipid contest by unanimous decision, spoke about his performance.

Although the pre-card promotional material promised we were in for a collision of planetary proportions, what we got was a snore-inducing pseudo-fight.
