Last weekend, on the main card of UFC Lincoln, Brazilian flyweight contender Deiveson Figueiredo improved to a fantastic 15-0 overall with a brutal TKO stoppage of former title challenger John Moraga. Now, he’s eyeing the division’s very best fighters. In a post-fight interview with MMAjunkie, Deiveson Figueiredo called for a fight with new UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo. If he can’t get this opportunity, well, he says he’ll settle for the most dominant champion in UFC history, former flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
Brian Ortega confirms he's been offered a UFC 231 title fight with Max Holloway

From the sounds of it, Brian Ortega will get his long-awaited shot at UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway at UFC 231 this December in Toronto. While he says the bout is not official yet, he recently confirmed it is indeed in the works for the card. “Nothing is official,” Ortega explained (transcript via MMA Fighting). “Trust me, I’m always the kind of guy, until I sign the contract I’m the first one to post it out there.
Curtis Blaydes vs. Francis Ngannou rematch official for UFC Beijing main event

The UFC’s big debut in Beijing, China will have a suitably big main event. In keeping with recent reports, the card will be headlined by heavyweight rematch between top contenders Curtis Blaydes and Francis Ngannou. The UFC made the bout official on Twitter on Sunday evening.
Stephen Thompson, Paige VanZant both refute reports about January fights on ESPN

Over the weekend, it was reported that a welterweight contender bout between former champion Robbie Lawler and former title challenger Stephen Thompson was in the works for the UFC’s January 18 debut on ESPN. Shortly thereafter, another report suggested that a flyweight bout between Paige VanZant and Rachael Ostovich was in the works for this inaugural UFC on ESPN card. From the sounds of it, we can pump the breaks on both of these potential bookings.

Over the weekend, in the main event of the action-packed UFC Lincoln card, former World Series of Fighting lightweight champion Justin Gaethje authored a violent, one-punch knockout of his rival James Vick. With this victory, Gaethje served to separate himself from the first losses of his career: back to back knockouts dealt by Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier. The win also helped reestablish Gaethje as one of the lightweight division’s top players, and set him up for more big fights in the near future.
Tony Ferguson wants public apology from UFC 229 opponent Anthony Pettis

Over the weekend, it was confirmed that UFC 229 will be co-headlined by a key lightweight contender bout between former interim champion Tony Ferguson and former undisputed champion Anthony Pettis. Ferguson and Pettis are also likely to serve as understudies should Khabib Nurmagomedov or Conor McGregor fail to appear for the card’s main event. From the sounds of it, this fight with Pettis is one that Tony Ferguson has wanted for some time. Speaking in a lengthy post on Instagram, Ferguson recounted a run-in with Pettis’ team that occurred all the way back at UFC 181. Apparently, he now plans to “bring the pain” to Pettis — although he’s willing to fight like a gentleman if Pettis issues a public apology ahead of time.

To say Fili disagrees with that result would be an understatement. On the undercard of Saturday night’s UFC Lincoln card, welterweight prospect Mickey Gall sought to rebound from the first loss of his career: a decision loss to Randy Brown. He did so in truly emphatic fashion, choking out his opponent George Sullivan just 69 seconds into the first round. Over the course of his MMA career, Mickey Gall has developed a reputation for his post-fight callouts. Yet while his past callouts of CM Punk and Sage Northcutt were quite clever, his more recent callouts have not been as well-received by the MMA community. His UFC Lincoln callouts generated the most ire yet.

He did so in incredible fashion, decapitating his opponent Tim Williams with a perfectly timed head kick in the third round. In the wake of this incredible victory, Eryk Anders called for a fight with Canadian middleweight contender Elias Theodorou.

Last night, in the main event of UFC Lincoln, Justin Gaethje and James Vick stepped into the cage together to settle weeks of pre-fight trash talk. In the end, the former World Series of Fighting champion Gaethje came out on top in emphatic fashion, melting his rival with a blistering first-round punch. Given the bad blood between Gaethje and Vick, it should come as no surprise that this was a feel-good moment for the former. That said, Gaethje was quick to bury the hatchet with his rival post fight. After initially flipping him off, he approached Vick and gave him some props.

Nate Diaz is not shy about his gripes with the UFC. Over the course of his unforgettable career, the Stockton-based star has repeatedly butted heads with the promotion and its key decision-makers, oftentimes resulting in prolonged absences from the cage. In the opinion of UFC announcer Bruce Buffer, Nate Diaz’s gripes with the UFC are unwarranted. In fact, Buffer thinks Diaz should be grovelling at the feet of the UFC brass.

Last night, Bareknuckle Fighting Championship returned with its second card, live from the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi. Though excitement surrounding this BKFC 2 card was somewhat muffled by the buzz produced by UFC Lincoln and *shudders* Logan Paul vs. KSI, there were plenty of reasons to watch. The card, which was topped by a title fight between champion Bec Rawlings and challenger Britain Hart, also featured appearances from MMA notables Chris Lytle, Joey Beltran, “Felony” Charles Bennett, Kendall Grove and Tony Lopez — not all of whom were lucky enough to leave Wyoming with victories.
